This gorgeous property is in a fantastic location overlooking Whitby Marina. With views of the imposing abbey from the front terrace, you can enjoy the peace and quiet of a coastal position but have the benefit of excellent pubs, museums, shops and the beach all within a mile of the front door. With plenty of space for up to ten guests, this huge Victorian cottage is bursting with contemporary character and enjoys spectacular views from many aspects – reminding you of your excellent position on the River Esk.

Climb the seven steps up to the terrace and front door of this stunning house and step into the hall to hang your coats and drop your boots. The first lounge is on your right, where the soothing tones of the sand and sea are harnessed to create a tranquil place to relax in; position yourself by the bay window and take in the views of the marina below. It’s the perfect spot to read a book with lots of natural light flooding the room.

Further down the hall, the dining room carries on the coastal theme with pastel greens and blues among a rustic wooden dining table. Sit chatting all night in front of the wood burner, playing board games or planning tomorrow’s adventures after dinner. The bright and airy kitchen is a pleasure to cook meals in, the glass roof and contemporary greys and creams adding to the charm with a huge American-style fridge/freezer meaning you’ll never go hungry.

Heading up to the first floor, a stunning second lounge with even better views awaits you; snuggle up in front of the TV after a long day out walking, listening to the wood burner crackling among rich, warm tones and dark woods. Across the landing, a peaceful double bedroom utilises calming neutral colours with nautical furnishings to create a haven for a great night’s sleep. It also has a handy en-suite shower room with WC to avoid the morning rush.

Climb the stairs to the second floor and you’re greeted with an elegant king-size bedroom with regal pastel colours and trendy downlighting. Enjoy a lie-in in the morning with the curtains open and watch the marina wake up, all from the comfort of your bed. Get ready for the day at the dressing area with plenty of natural light after taking an invigorating shower in the en-suite bathroom that has his-and-hers sinks.

It feels like this property never ends as you head up to the third floor where you’ll find a charming double bedroom with pretty floral touches among coastal decor; relax on the sofa before slipping between the sheets or sit and read the morning papers with your coffee. The coastal theme carries on in the en-suite shower room. There’s also a serene twin room on this floor with gentle, pale colours to promote a good night’s sleep along with a handy en-suite shower room.

Finally, a twin room on the top floor has the best views in the house; let in the fresh sea air through the windows as you look down at the marina. Watch out for the varying head height up here – but the views are worth having to stoop to get to the best position!

Outside, the huge terrace is perfect for dining alfresco, whether it’s a tasty homecooked meal or some fresh Whitby scampi and chips from one of the many fish and chip shops. Take your position on sunny days on one of the wooden loungers or sit with a cup of tea on the sofa nearest to the house. Wherever you sit, your views of the marina and abbey are framed by beautiful greenery for the ultimate peaceful atmosphere.

Don’t miss the Whitby Regatta in August, a maritime celebration with family-friendly festivities and fireworks. Great location close to town centre, everything is within walking distance. House is really spacious and comfortable. Kitchen and dining areas are well appointed with all you need for self catering. Rooms are very comfortable with quality bedding and towels supplied and most have en-suite bathrooms. Theirs is room for 2 cars outside in the private Read moreroad if you park close . Great location, a short walk into town and to the bus station. Lots of room and comfy furniture. Quality bedding and towels and toiletries provided. Could be improved with a welcome pack, there was a musty smell in the kitchen on arrival and junk Mail was overflowing in the letter box. Some kitchen utensils needed replacing and the garden furnitureRead more cleaned. But on the whole it made for a nice stay in Whitby. Hide

The cottage is well presented and close to the towns amenities. I would not promote for elderly or infirm due to the toilets and bedrooms not being on ground floor and the number of steps up to the front door. The closer to the front door lacks hand rails. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

A very comfortable house with beautiful views in a great location. In a quiet spot but easy walk to the harbour and shops. The two lounges were perfect for our family to spread out. Would definitely recommend.

Whitby is a wonderful town and the cottage is in the perfect location. Format of the house is excellent for a group of families or friends and being dog friendly is a big plus. However, the cottage could do with a bit of TLC.

The cottage is huge. Perfect for big family. The only issue we had was the smell from some of the toilets. Other than that it was perfect
