Farmland cottage offering a charming stay for up to four guests, in an ideal location for enjoying country walks and taking day trips to nearby Harrogate
This quaint stone-built cottage is in an idyllic location on a non-working farm near the owners’ property. Set in meadow grassland with native woodland nearby, see how many different kinds of wildlife you can spot and pay a visit to the neighbours’ suckler cows and calves in the summer. With ample space for four people, the property is spacious and inviting and offers wonderful views of the countryside around you – reminding you of your proximity to the edge of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (6 miles).
Hang up your coats and store your walking boots in the spacious hallway, following beautiful tiled floors to the kitchen which has a contemporary farmhouse style. Rustic tiles, wooden cupboards and quirky farm-style touches make it a pleasure to cook up a storm in. There is a dishwasher so there’s no need to wash up, but you might fancy it so you can gaze out of the window at the pretty views.
Take three steps down into the cosy lounge/diner, where exposed beams, vaulted ceilings and a wood burner surrounded by a stone fireplace create a peaceful atmosphere. Relax on the comfortable sofas in front of the TV among soothing pastel tones and rich wooden furniture after a delicious meal at the large dining table. There are plenty of books on the bookcase to enjoy curled up on a chair after a long day out, or maybe you can enjoy a board game around the table.
Off the hallway, the stunning king-size bedroom welcomes you in with soft lighting and pretty blue and yellow tones. Large fitted wardrobes mean there’s plenty of space to unpack your clothes, while the en-suite shower room adds a little bit of indulgence to your stay. Relax with a hot shower after a day out walking, or wake yourself up with an invigorating shower and get ready for the morning. Throw open the patio doors that lead from the bedroom to the patio and enjoy a cup of tea on the wooden bench.
Climb the stunning winding stairs to the galleried landing, where a peaceful twin zip-and-link room (which can be made into a super-king-size bed on request) boasts wooden beams and bold colours in the furnishings among vaulted ceilings. Throw open the Velux windows for fantastic views of the fields and woodland for a refreshing start to the day. The main bathroom is also up here, where a corner bath and stylish textured tiles give the room a spa-like feel that’s perfect for an indulgent soak to ease muscle aches and pains.
Outside, a pretty, south-facing patio is the ideal spot for al fresco dining, whether it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner. Sit and enjoy a drink or meal around beautiful countryside views, or head to the shared walled garden where you’ll find plenty of garden games. Kids will love scrambling up the climbing frame and playing swingball or giant Connect 4, all among the beautiful rolling hills. Make sure you get out and explore the many footpaths directly from the property and discover lots of little brooks and rivers.
