A coastal retreat located in the heart of Staithes, less than 100 metres from the seafront, where you can smell the fresh sea air and uncover the most spectacular scenery. Waverley House is perfect property to share a holiday with family or friends.
Situated amongst the narrow, cobbled streets of fishing village Staithes in the north-eastern corner of the North York Moors National Park, this gorgeous home is perfect for families or groups of friends. With the rugged coastline and heather-clad moors on your doorstep, this property really does offer the best of coast of country. Brimming with charm and character, the village clings to the hillside and is situated on the Cleveland Way, so cliff-top walks with unbridled views are plentiful. Unlike its busier counterparts, Staithes is quieter and offers guests a coastal hideaway in which to relax. Staithes also has links with one of the most famous sea-farers in history, Captain Cook, and you can find out more about him in the Heritage Centre Museum. The cottage is located next to a small, sheltered harbour; at low tide, a small sandy beach and a rocky sea bed are revealed, which kids both young and old will enjoy exploring. The village is home to a few eateries with, as you’d expect, plenty of seafood on offer. The equally delightful and charming village of Runswick Bay is also worth a visit, which is 3 miles south of Staithes.
As a Grade II listed property, this traditional stone cottage is brimming with original features and charm, but it has been sympathetically renovated to suit modern guests. White walls create a light and airy feel throughout, allowing the exposed beams and original built-in cupboards to blend in, whilst accents of warm wood make it feel warm and homely.
As you enter on the ground floor, you’ll find yourself in a delightful hall, complete with fireplace and seating, where you can discard muddy boots and coats. You then move through into the bright open-plan kitchen/diner. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you’ll need to cater for you and your guests, whilst the dining area provides plenty of seating for everyone to dine together. From here, a set of stairs takes you down into the cosy, yet spacious, lounge on the lower-ground floor. This is the perfect place to gather round of an evening to socialise, play games or watch TV together.
Upstairs, on the first floor, there are two beautifully-presented bedrooms: one double and one bunk bed. Both are decorated in cool tones to add a sense of light and calm. There is also a family bathroom on this floor, with a shower over the bath. Ascending another flight of stairs brings you to the delightful, king-size, master bedroom on the second floor, complete with en-suite shower room and sea-views.
There is a small enclosed backyard and a bench outside the front door, but no other outside space. Luggage can be unloaded at the front door, but cars must be parked in one of the public or private car parks at the top of the old village.
