  • Traditional Grade II listed artist's cottage (with original artwork on display) situated in the heart of the beautiful village of Staithes
  • Ample accommodation on 4 floors with a sea view from the top floor master bedroom
  • Great location on the cobbled High Street less than 100metres from the seafront

Property code: 79398

Situated amongst the narrow, cobbled streets of fishing village Staithes in the north-eastern corner of the North York Moors National Park, this gorgeous home is perfect for families or groups of friends. With the rugged coastline and heather-clad moors on your doorstep, this property really does offer the best of coast of country. Brimming with charm and character, the village clings to the hillside and is situated on the Cleveland Way, so cliff-top walks with unbridled views are plentiful. Unlike its busier counterparts, Staithes is quieter and offers guests a coastal hideaway in which to relax. Staithes also has links with one of the most famous sea-farers in history, Captain Cook, and you can find out more about him in the Heritage Centre Museum. The cottage is located next to a small, sheltered harbour; at low tide, a small sandy beach and a rocky sea bed are revealed, which kids both young and old will enjoy exploring. The village is home to a few eateries with, as you’d expect, plenty of seafood on offer. The equally delightful and charming village of Runswick Bay is also worth a visit, which is 3 miles south of Staithes.

As a Grade II listed property, this traditional stone cottage is brimming with original features and charm, but it has been sympathetically renovated to suit modern guests. White walls create a light and airy feel throughout, allowing the exposed beams and original built-in cupboards to blend in, whilst accents of warm wood make it feel warm and homely.

As you enter on the ground floor, you’ll find yourself in a delightful hall, complete with fireplace and seating, where you can discard muddy boots and coats. You then move through into the bright open-plan kitchen/diner. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you’ll need to cater for you and your guests, whilst the dining area provides plenty of seating for everyone to dine together. From here, a set of stairs takes you down into the cosy, yet spacious, lounge on the lower-ground floor. This is the perfect place to gather round of an evening to socialise, play games or watch TV together.

Upstairs, on the first floor, there are two beautifully-presented bedrooms: one double and one bunk bed. Both are decorated in cool tones to add a sense of light and calm. There is also a family bathroom on this floor, with a shower over the bath. Ascending another flight of stairs brings you to the delightful, king-size, master bedroom on the second floor, complete with en-suite shower room and sea-views.

There is a small enclosed backyard and a bench outside the front door, but no other outside space. Luggage can be unloaded at the front door, but cars must be parked in one of the public or private car parks at the top of the old village.

  • 3 bedrooms: 1 king-size, 1 double and 1 bunk bedroom
  • 1 bathroom with shower over bath
  • Separate WC
  • 1 en-suite shower room with WC
  • Electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer and 2 fridges (one with icebox)
  • Great location in the old village with vehicle access for unloading
  • Parking in private or public car parks at the top of the village (approx. 500metres)
  • Pubs, Cafés, Shops & Art Galleries all within 100 metres
  • Seafront less than 100 metres
  • Bluetooth speaker
  • TV with DVD & Chromecast
  • Highchair & Travel cot (no bedding supplied)

Lovely cottage in an excellent location. Stairs are very narrow but its well appointed and the layout is great for older kids in particular as there are separate dining and sitting room areas.

Very well placed for everything in Staithes, lots of kitchen equipment for managing fresh seafood and comfortably large dining area for eating it, great attic master bedroom.

This cottage is in the old village, perfectly positioned for the beach and pubs. We had a very comfortable stay, as two couples a baby and four year-old, the heating (unfortunately needed in July ) was good and we felt cosy. Watch your head when using the fridge under the shelf!!

A lovely cottage with easy access to the beach and all the amenities. It was lovely to stay in the old part of the village, very atmospheric. We did have trouble with the heating system which we normally wouldnt need in June but a cold front made the weather quite chilly. Not a major problem, probably operator error !

We loved the location and the house -and the sea views. The decor was tasteful and neutral. Parts of the house were worn as you might expect with a period property but it was charming. The kitchen was very well-equipped. We did feel let down by some elements of cleanliness. Although the bathroom and kitchen surfaces were spotless, the dishwasher anRead mored fridge were not as clean as I would have liked and I found dried food on the floor of the downstairs carpet. Overall we were pleased with our stay Hide

Very well equipped cottage (although no provisions such as salt and pepper). Lovely building right in the centre of Staithes. Very noisy on Friday and Saturday nights due to proximity of the pub, but fine at other times. Cottage could have been a little cleaner, and looks more spacious on the photographs. However, some lovely artwork from the ownerRead more, and a spectacular view from the top bedroom. Felt it was a little on the expensive side overall. Hide
