A modern, tastefully finished apartment sitting in the heart of the breathtaking Holme Valley, this picture-postcard town is popular with walkers and wildlife lovers alike. A fantastic retreat for keen walking or cycling groups up to four.

This beautiful, simple and chic apartment enjoys a peaceful setting at the heart of the Holme Valley, just 4.5 miles from Huddersfield and a 1-mile drive from the Peak District National Park. Overlooking a tapestry of fields and traditional stone walls and with Holme Moss in the distance, this property is set next door to the owner’s pub for cosy nights sipping real ale during meals out.

Offering delightful accommodation for up to four guests, you’ll soon be relaxing with countryside walks and tasty Yorkshire fare. The friendly owners have even provided a complimentary welcome pack to help you settle in.

Enter via the shared entrance and venture upstairs to find a stylish interior characterised by high, sloped ceilings, warm decor and soothing splashes of colour that compliment the framed artwork on the walls. An open-plan living space provides a central hub for wining, dining and relaxing in style, complete with original timber beams for a traditional vibe. You’ll be tempted to put your feet up with a slice of cake and a pot of tea, all sourced locally of course.

The kitchen/diner is equipped with contemporary cabinetry, marble work surfaces, an electric oven and hob, fridge with ice compartment and a dishwasher, so you’ll have everything you need to sizzle up a sensational breakfast. Feast together around the bijou-style table, and enjoy some light entertainment watching TV in the elegant lounge area with its comfy sofas and tasteful accessories.

Weary from your explorations, you’ll be relieved to find that both bedrooms feature a crisply dressed king-size bed for a restorative night’s sleep. You won’t need to pad back into the living room for late-night viewings of your favourite shows as both bedrooms have their own TVs, perfect for a final spot of entertainment before drifting off to sleep. One of the rooms boasts impressive views of the windswept moors from the window, a spectacular sight on sunny mornings.

Each bedroom has the added bonus of an en-suite shower room apiece with a shower compartment and WC, just the ticket for warming up after a bracing walk. The bathrooms may be contemporary in style, but they are sure to impress with their simple charm and underlying Scandinavian vibe.

There may not be a private outside space, but Meltham Moor offers endless potential for an early morning stroll with a plethora of countryside trails to choose from. Take a break from cooking and savour a home-cooked meal courtesy of the owner’s family-run pub, and chat with the locals to discover some exciting places to visit off the beaten track. Off-road parking for one car is available within the pub car park.

The property is situated just 4 miles away from Holmfirth, a charming market town that eagle-eyed viewers may recognise from its ‘Last of the Summer Wine’ fame. Surrounded by the glorious countryside of the Holme Valley and tucked on the cusp of the Peak District, the area is a haven for walkers and wildlife enthusiasts. The adrenaline-fuelled cyclists amongst you will relish the opportunity to tackle Holme Moss, a steep and exhilarating route that formed part of the Yorkshire Grand Depart, Tour de France route 2014. Fishing, sailing and golfing opportunities are available in abundance, and the tranquil country lanes are excellent for pony trekking.

Holmfirth itself is a treasure trove of antique shops, independent boutiques and tearooms, best enjoyed after exploring the town’s fascinating heritage via Holmfirth’s Blue Plaque Trail. Nearby Honley 3.5 miles away offers foodies a unique gastronomic experience amongst its cobbled streets, so be sure to try seasonal and local produce in one of the quirky eateries. For culture vultures, the Holme Valley and Colne Valley are also renowned for their rolling event calendars that feature gems such as an annual folk festival, a popular art market and the legendary Cuckoo Day in Marsden and Slaithwaite Moonraking Festival.

You’ll be situated 12.5 miles away from Halifax, a thriving market town that once served as the centre of the wool trade in Victorian England. Many of the opulent buildings and monuments from this time can still be seen as you walk around the town, including Piece Hall – a magnificent Georgian building that was once the place where weavers sold their cloth. Nowadays, it’s a fabulous place to grab a tasty bite to eat or peruse the independent shops and boutiques.

Other impressive buildings include Halifax Minster, the town’s gothic church; the Grade II listed Halifax Town Hall, created by the same man who designed the Houses of Parliament; and Shibden Hall, a 15th-century historic home surrounded by a glorious park, once home to the ‘first modern lesbian’, Anne Lister, who wrote her secret diaries there. The parkland is an excellent place to spend a day, where you can walk beside the pretty flowerbeds, row across the Mere or ride on the miniature train which will delight any children in your party. Kids will also love Eureka! The National Children’s Museum, which is sure to capture their imaginations with its 400 interactive exhibits.

If you enjoy food, make sure to visit Halifax’s Borough Market, which is a stunning Grade II listed building hosting an award-winning covered market throughout the week. Sample some local produce and pick up a tasty treat to enjoy over a glass of wine in your cosy cottage.

We stayed in the West Nab View apartment which has a well equipped kitchen and a very comfortable lounge area. It was really nice to have a bathroom in each bedroom too. The views from all the rooms were amazing. One of the bedrooms is closer to the B1607 and if you have the windows open on a warm summer night, it can be noisy, there is a fan in thRead moree room. Our stay was during the peak summer bank holiday season, the apartment is above the pub and its all quiet at 11 even on their busy nights. Hide
