This exquisite one-bedroom holiday cottage is set within extensive grounds of Kirkby Fleetham Hall. Offering a mature and sophisticated style throughout, this property is a superb choice for a romantic break.

Treat yourself to a touch of something very special with a stay in this truly splendid holiday property. Set within the immaculate gardens and grounds of Kirkby Fleetham Hall, the one-bedroom property would suit a couple seeking a romantic break. Also ideal for a dog-loving individual, the holiday home, which is set within the east wing of the country house, can also accommodate one contented canine who is just as eager to start exploring his North Yorkshire surroundings.

Dating back to the 1900s, Grade II-listed Kirkby Fleetham Hall is located in the village of Kirkby Fleetham and includes acres of landscaped, parkland grounds that guests are welcome to enjoy. In addition to areas of mature woodland, home to an abundance of wildlife, there is also a lake and a church. This enticing, single-storey cottage overlooks the gardens and the lake at Kirkby Fleetham Hall. Still presenting a wealth of character features, including sash windows, an arched door and fireplaces, it marries elegance and period style with modern-day comfort.

Open the door and step into the reception hall, where you can leave your outerwear before making your way on through into the lounge. Take a few moments in here to appreciate the beautiful view before relaxing for a time on the soft seating with a cup of tea and a slice of cake. Switch on the Smart TV to see if there is a film you fancy watching; flick through a magazine perhaps or read your book.

Wander on through to the kitchen to prepare a delicious dinner for two. You’ll have all the equipment you need  to ensure you have a relaxing evening. There is also a useful washing machine. On warm days, pull open the kitchen doors to bring a cool breeze in and so you can gaze out across the greenery as you cook.

As night turns into day, amble on through to the bedroom, which is just as calming as the rest of this serene holiday home. The sumptuous king-size bed will help you have a great night’s sleep during your time away and there is also a convenient en-suite shower room.

Step out into the morning sunshine to enjoy a turn around the grounds before breakfast. Dine out on your private terrace, enjoying the peace and watching the birds. Have a picnic lunch or even supper out on one of the shared lawns if you choose. There is parking for one car with this holiday home.

  • 1 bedroom - king-size

Those who enjoy walking will also relish being just 8 miles from the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and 9.5 miles from the North York Moors. Pick up the Coast to Coast Walk from near Richmond, approximately 10 miles away, and choose from a number of great cycle rides. Kirkby Fleetham has its own pub, for those keen to dine out after a day of physical activity, and, of course, Richmond also has a good selection of restaurants.

Richmond itself is a charming market town on the borders of Wensleydale and Swaledale. It boasts an 11th-century castle, fine Georgian architecture, a historic Georgian theatre and a large cobbled market square as some of its many attractions. Stroll into town for a cup of Yorkshire tea at one of the many tea rooms there or pop over for dinner at one of the excellent restaurants. The shops here also offer plenty of interest.

The gorgeous River Swale runs through the town and, across the river – less than 1 mile away – are the River Swale Waterfalls. You can walk in either direction along the river and deep into the countryside without having to go anywhere near the car. We also recommend exploring the restored former Richmond Railway Station which has lots to entertain young and old including a small cinema, cafe/restaurant, gallery, microbrewery and artisan bakery.

Richmond is also known as The Gateway to the Dales so expect stunning Dales scenery within minutes of leaving the town. Peppering this glorious countryside are countless attractive little towns and villages and, if you enjoy a bit of surreal entertainment, how about a visit to the quite brilliant Forbidden Corner? This is an attraction full of statues and hidden surprises, which is 17 miles away, near Middleham.

A well equipped spacious and comfortable cottage. Fabulous and very peaceful setting with views of the lake and lawns from every window. Small patio outside kitchen door to enjoy a breakfast cuppa in the sunshine, with other seating available to sit and watch the rabbits and squirrels on the lawn. Apart from the walk in the woods on the estate, theRead morere are very few public footpaths outside of the estate. The local pub serves good food. There are lots of interesting places to visit. We had a wonderful restful break at Willow tree, the "cottage" has everything you need and is all one level so no stairs to climb (Other than the back steps into the lake area) and from the kitchen side gives a feeling of being in a detached property. The grounds are spectacular, and the location is within easy reach of interesting places to visitsRead more. You also have a beautiful 12th Century Church in your back garden. It's on our list of returns. Hide

Property was an unusual shape but ideal for a couple with a dog in need of a break. Owners friendly and helpful. We had to return a day early due to family needs but will certainly look to rebook again. Two dinners at local pub and visited most local towns which filled the week. Natural surroundings of the first order.

The owner was really welcoming and gave some recommendations on where to visit. If you get a chance visit Renshaw Bay Beach BEAUTIFUL. The grounds were lovely and peaceful, we took our 7 month old dog who had the time of her life, playing with the owners dog and exploring the grounds. You can listen to the Owls of a nighttime. Lovely relaxed location where you are left to enjoy the glorious surrounding gardens and woodland and no fuss or instructions hamper your stay. But the cottage was run down - the hot water erratic and the kitchen crockery basic. Perfect if youre going out a lot, but limited if you plan to cosy up and stay in.

The cottage was very comfortable and its location was idyllic.
