Created with romance in mind, this beautiful former coach house is a hideaway for two that will capture your heart while you relax overlooking the private lake on the Kirkby Hall Estate.

Escape with your loved one to this gorgeous, converted coach house, which is set within the grounds of impressive Kirkby Fleetham Hall, in North Yorkshire. An idyllic retreat for a couple, this creatively converted, one-bedroom, first-floor holiday property benefits from the glorious surroundings of acres of parkland. Take one delighted dog with you to enjoy all the outdoor space, which includes areas of woodland, as well as a beautiful lake, and a church. Home to an abundance of wildlife, these beautifully landscaped grounds are there for you to explore and enjoy to your heart’s content.

Grade II-listed Kirkby Fleetham Hall, which dates back to the 1900s, is set in the village of Kirkby Fleetham, which has a gastro pub where you can dine out on evenings you fancy a treat. The village itself is approximately 10 miles from Richmond and in a perfect position for those who enjoy walking or cycling. It is also just 8 miles from the beginnings of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and 9.5 miles from the North York Moors. Also within easy reach is Alfred Wainwright’s famous Coast to Coast Walk, which passes near Richmond.

Approach this exquisite property through the immaculate grounds of the hall. Climb the stairs and enter to find accommodation that still presents elements of its history, boasting beautiful arched windows, stripped beams and vaulted ceilings. Find yourselves in a bright, airy open plan lounge/kitchen/diner, where the fresh white walls complement the natural wood and simple, yet stylish items of furniture and accessories have been carefully chosen.

Settle on the plump sofas in here for a while to take in the delightful views and chat about your exciting day. Switch on the Smart TV and choose a film to watch either now or later or grab the opportunity to catch up on a few pages of your book. Head over to the kitchen area to make a fresh cup of coffee from the machine or to prepare dinner. Perch at the breakfast bar within the island with a glass of wine, while dinner roasts in the oven. Lay the table for a romantic dinner for two and make the most of the dishwasher so no one needs to spend time at the kitchen sink afterwards.

At the end of your exhilarating day out and about in the fresh Yorkshire air, climb the staircase up from the main living area into the beautiful bedroom. This has a generous, en-suite bathroom, with an elegant, free-standing bath and a large shower. Have a long and lazy morning in your sumptuous bedroom, gazing out through the pretty window, before heading downstairs for a delicious, homecooked breakfast.

Stroll around the grounds in the morning sunshine, savouring the tranquillity; visit the paddock and stables and look out for wildfowl on the lake. Have a picnic beside the stream or out on the grass in the evening, enjoying the beauty of the setting as the sun goes down. This holiday home comes with off-street parking for its guests.

This is a superb area for walkers and cyclists with many routes from the doorstep or just a short distance away. These include the popular Coast to Coast Walk which can be picked up in the area, near Richmond, 10 miles from Kirkby Fleetham.

Richmond itself is a charming market town on the borders of Wensleydale and Swaledale. It boasts an 11th-century castle, fine Georgian architecture, a historic Georgian theatre and a large cobbled market square as some of its many attractions. Stroll into town for a cup of Yorkshire tea at one of the many tea rooms there or pop over for dinner at one of the excellent restaurants. The shops here also offer plenty of interest.

The gorgeous River Swale runs through the town and, across the river – less than 1 mile away – are the River Swale Waterfalls. You can walk in either direction along the river and deep into the countryside without having to go anywhere near the car. We also recommend exploring the restored former Richmond Railway Station which has lots to entertain young and old including a small cinema, cafe/restaurant, gallery, microbrewery and artisan bakery.

Richmond is also known as The Gateway to the Dales so expect stunning Dales scenery within minutes of leaving the town. Peppering this glorious countryside are countless attractive little towns and villages and if you enjoy a bit of surreal entertainment, how about a visit to the quite brilliant Forbidden Corner? This is an attraction full of statues and hidden surprises, which is 17 miles away, near Middleham.

Lovely apartment and superb grounds to wander around with your dog. The local pub serves great food but its not a 15 minute walk as advertised in fact I would recommend you drive there because the lane you walk up is very narrow and dangerous.
