Tucked away in a tranquil position with the sound of the beck trickling nearby, this refurbished cottage is perfect for families and friends looking to immerse themselves in the Yorkshire countryside.

Head off to the Yorkshire Dales and enjoy the dramatic scenery of the area from the comfort of this exquisite stone cottage. Set within the village of Kettlewell, next to the river and beside a beautiful hill, this pretty, three-bedroom property sleeps up to six guests and also welcomes two happy hounds.

Open the front door, leave your outerwear in the lobby then wander on through into this inviting cottage, which has underfloor heating to make yourselves feel truly at home. The accommodation is bright, modern and comfortable but also retains a sense of its original period style. Everything here has been designed for your ease during your stay.

Find yourselves in an open-plan kitchen/diner, where you can stoke up a roaring wood burner, make a cup of coffee to enjoy at the breakfast bar or whip up tasty treats for everyone to enjoy at the table together. Well equipped with appliances and accessories, this kitchen will be the seventh heaven for any chefs among your party.

Chat here too around the table long into the evening; play games together or head through into the lounge, where there is a second wood burner for you to fire up and relax beside. Discover a utility room, with a useful washing machine and tumble dryer, where you can deal with damp clothing after long walks. Watch the Smart TV in the lounge to unwind further or find a few tranquil moments to yourself with your book while everyone else is still next door. There is also a wet room downstairs for all members of your group to use.

Venture upstairs at the end of each exciting day to choose between the beautiful bedrooms. All three rooms are on the first floor: a king-room, with an en-suite shower room, and two super-king-size rooms, with zip-and-link beds that can be arranged as twins in advance. Wake up to views out towards the stream and rolling hills from either of these super-king rooms. Discover the family bathroom, with a free-standing bath, up on the first floor too.

Savour your outside space during your holiday by enjoying the fresh air and tranquillity as often as the weather permits. Dine out in the courtyard with its gorgeous stone wall. Follow the stone steps up to raised lawn area where the children can play while you relax. This cottage comes with a parking permit for a nearby car park.

Choose from myriad fantastic walks routes to embark on straight from the front door of this delightful holiday home; go cycling, horse riding or pony trekking. Simply enjoy being based in this fabulous village with its pubs, serving meals made from tasty Yorkshire produce; tearooms and village shop.

Gorgeous Kettlewell is some 13 miles from Aysgarth in Wensleydale. Head here to see the spectacular Aysgarth Falls, which were featured in the film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves! The village also boasts many great options to eat within less than a mile of the property, including popular pubs and cute cafes. If you visit in spring, you can’t leave without a visit to Freeholders’ Wood where bluebells, anemones and primroses will be in full bloom.

As hard as it will be to tear yourself away from the picturesque village, there’s plenty more to see and do in the local area. Within a 10-mile radius of the property are the charming settlements of Hawes, 15 miles from Kettlewell; West Burton, 13 miles away; and Askrigg, 17 miles away. Hawes is a popular market town less than 10 miles from Aysgarth and is most famous for being the home of Wensleydale cheese! It also boasts lovely shops, pubs and tearooms. Walkers will also love the town as the Pennine Way passes through it, making it the perfect starting point for exploring the countryside. The small villages of West Burton and Askrigg offer delightful tearooms and pubs.

The stunning landscape of Wensleydale itself includes 25 miles of lush valleys, criss-crossed with the area’s iconic dry-stone walls. If you enjoy walking and countryside views, you will not be short of things to do, with Wensleydale providing delightful moorland, dale-side and valley walks. Wensleydale is also sandwiched between Wharfedale and Swaledale if you fancy exploring further afield.

History lovers will be fascinated by visits to Bolton Castle, Middleham Castle and Jervaulx Abbey, which are 17, 15 and 18 miles from the property, respectively. Bolton Castle dates back to the 14th century and once held Mary, Queen of Scots prisoner, while Middleham Castle was the childhood home of Richard III. Jervaulx Abbey is the country’s largest privately-owned Cistercian Abbey and offers peace and tranquillity to its visitors.

The cottage was remarkably well-equipped; the owners had thought of almost everything. Definitely a conversion project executed up to a quality rather than down to a price!
