This contemporary property oozes style and provides the perfect base for a memorable family holiday exploring the Peak District.

Previously the village Post Office, this charming period property has been beautifully modernised into a stylish bolthole for walkers, cyclists and families. Home to a friendly pub, the picturesque village of Holme is a peaceful location for rural escapes, while just 2.5 miles away, Holmfirth offers a choice of quirky shops and restaurants to enjoy. When you’re not indulging in a spot of retail therapy or sampling local cuisine, journey south into the stunning Peak District National Park to walk its heather-clad hills, abseil its crags or paddle its lakes. Afterwards, return to base to warm up beside the wood burner, indulge in a long soak in the slipper bath or simply sit back and admire the breathtaking rural views.

Step inside to find a fantastic open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, tastefully finished in an understated industrial style. Whether you’re staying with family or friends, this generous and airy room is the perfect place to return to after busy and exciting days out. Chefs of the group will delight in the simple yet stylish kitchen area, with its charming exposed stone wall and light and airy feel. Once prepared, enjoy evening meals together at the rustic dining table, with its steel legs, statement dining chairs and delightful window seat. After long walks through the Peaks, curl up on one of the elegant sofas and settle in for an evening of TV, films or games while the wood burner keeps you and your four-legged friends cosy and warm. When the day is done, climb the fabulous concrete staircase to the first floor to reach the bedrooms and bathrooms. Each of the three bedrooms has been finished in fresh and serene tones that complement the original oak flooring perfectly and set the scene for restful nights. The king-size bedroom boasts a fabulous original stone fireplace, while the double bedroom is finished with quirky artwork. Finally, the triple bunk bedroom offers a single bed over a double bed. After a long walk, there’s no better way to soothe tired muscles than with a long, indulgent soak in the slipper bath, which sits charmingly beside an exposed stone wall. If you’re more of a shower person, choose between the luxurious walk-in shower in the bathroom or the stylish metro tiled shower in the separate shower room.

If you’re planning to explore this stunning area on two wheels, you will be pleased to find a secure outhouse for bicycle storage. Car parking meanwhile is available in a courtyard across the road on a first-come, first-served basis.

Perched on the edge of the Peak District National Park, the pretty village of Holme is the perfect base from which to explore this stunning landscape. One of Britain’s most visited national parks, the breathtaking scenery stretches some 555 square miles. A haven for walkers, cyclists, climbers, cavers and campers, there is something for every kind of adventurer. Besides the vast number of natural spaces, there are intriguing historic houses to discover such as Haddon Hall, Lyme Park and Chatsworth.

After a long day of walking or cycling along the Pennine Way, pop into the local pub in Holme to enjoy a bite to eat or head to nearby Holmfirth. In the heart of the peaceful Holme Valley, this picture-postcard town is the renowned location of the TV classic Last of the Summer Wine. It is also home to cobbled streets lined with cafes, restaurants, independent boutiques, antiques markets and a delightful bookshop. For a memorable day out, head to the renowned Holmfirth Vineyard or visit the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, set within 500 acres of countryside.

Meanwhile, 16 miles north, the thriving market town of Halifax is well worth a visit. Once the centre of the wool trade in Victorian England, many of the opulent buildings and monuments from this time can still be seen. Nowadays, it’s a fabulous place to grab a tasty bite to eat or peruse the independent shops and boutiques, as well as catch some outdoor performances.

If you enjoy food, make sure to visit Halifax’s Borough Market, which is a stunning Grade II-listed building hosting an award-winning covered market throughout the week. Sample some local produce and pick up a tasty treat to enjoy back at your luxury holiday cottage.

Meanwhile, for a big day out, both Huddersfield (8.5 miles) and Bradford (23 miles) are within reach of the property and offer a variety of attractions.
