Property code: 83317

This spacious former cow shed situated on the owner's working farm in rural Yorkshire has been wonderfully converted to provide the ideal escape for a couple to explore this stunning part of Yorkshire.

Head to this enticing holiday retreat, near Burnt Yates, 8 miles from Harrogate, on the fringes of the spellbinding Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and enjoy the natural beauty of North Yorkshire with your significant other. This delightful, one-bedroom stone conversion is set on a working farm and offers access to some of the most magnificent places to explore within the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Take two very happy hounds along with you for the stay and strike out from home on long walks. Try a 4-mile hike to the National Trust’s Brimham Rocks. This impressive collection of rock formations is believed to have been created by a great river some 100 million years before the very first dinosaurs existed. Those who are even more energetic could attempt a 6-mile hike to Thruscross Reservoir, where a circular 5-mile route takes you around the edge of the serene lake.

Let yourself into this single-storey, holiday home and find yourselves feeling immediately at home. Store your outdoor clothing and footwear in the reception hall and then make your way through to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Enjoy the sense of light and space in this room, with its skylight windows and double glass doors. Throw these open on warm spring and summer days to enjoy the fresh air and green outlook.

Make yourselves a cup of tea in the kitchen area to relax over with a slice of Yorkshire parkin. Then later, you’ll find everything you need to whip up delicious romantic dinners in, on those nights you decide not to venture out. Switch the TV on in here too and find something to watch via its Freeview channels. Read your books, chat about your day and decide where to head off to tomorrow.

As night falls, make your way through to the gorgeous bedroom, with its subtle decor and calm ambience. Enjoy a good night’s sleep in the sumptuous super-king-size bed or ask for it to be arranged as twins in advance, as it is made up of two zip-and-link beds. Have a hot bath at night or a refreshing shower in the morning, before heading off to the kitchen to make a cup of coffee.

Take breakfast out in the fresh air on your private patio whenever the weather permits. Light the BBQ out here too on warm evenings and enjoy access to the shared garden, which takes in picturesque rural views. There is a shared laundry room on the site, as well as storage for your bicycles. This holiday home comes with parking for one car.

  • 1 super-king-size zip-and-link bedroom (can be made up as twins on request)
  • 1 bathroom with shower over the bath and a WC
  • Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher
  • Shared utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer
  • Welcome pack
  • Travel cot and highchair available on request
  • Freeview TV in lounge
  • Dogs must be kept on a lead on the farm
  • Private patio area with furniture and shared garden
  • Charcoal BBQ
  • Off-road parking for 1 car
  • Secure cycle storage
  • Shop 5 miles, pub 3 miles
  • Regret no children under 16 (babes in arms welcome)
  • Due to nearby livestock fireworks are prohibited at the property
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week

Plan trips out to interesting sights and beauty spots in the area. Visit the Coldstones Cut, 10.5 miles away, a massive sculpture that overlooks the impressive Coldstones Quarry and offers spectacular views over Nidderdale too. The nature reserve at Fewstone Reservoir, 8 miles away, is also a scenic place to spend time, while Ripley Castle, 3 miles away, offers a taste of local history and the chance to explore splendid, landscaped grounds.

Enjoy your proximity to the grand Victorian spa town of Harrogate, which is regularly listed as the best place to live in the UK. The truly gorgeous Yorkshire town combines traditional elegance with contemporary style effortlessly.

Best known for its antiques and fine art, Harrogate has antique dealers and galleries around every corner, particularly around the Montpellier Quarter. If buying old paintings and furniture isn’t your favourite pastime, then there are a host of other reasons to shop in Harrogate. High fashion outlets nestle alongside lavish interior boutiques, punctuated with enough fine restaurants and cafes to keep you fuelled for weeks.

A visit to Bettys Tearooms is a must and, if you have time, we highly recommend a session at the famous Turkish Baths. Rejuvenate spirit and soul after a day on the town. Harrogate is also famous for its outdoor space and abundance of parkland and greenery. The RHS gardens at Harlow Carr are a fantastic option for families.

Other places well worth visiting in the area include gorgeous Ilkley, which is 17 miles away, combined with a visit to Bolton Abbey, 16.5 miles away. York is also within easy reach (24 miles) for anyone eager to make a day trip to the medieval city. The jewel in North Yorkshire’s crown, this ancient walled city has been the north's spiritual capital for 2,000 years. Its affluent population and its influx of tourist pounds have also helped to create a cultural and commercial oasis. History seeps out of every cobbled street, but the crooked old buildings house a fantastic range of contemporary designer shops, cafes, restaurants and bars.
