This luxurious house encapsulates Yorkshire hospitality with a generous helping of boutique-style elegance. Surrounded by a tapestry of glorious open countryside with Harrogate and Ripon both within easy reach, this accommodation sleeps ten and is a treat for large families and groups looking to reconnect and experience the great outdoors and all of its possibilities. Cross the stone-paved courtyard armed with various spoils from nearby market towns, descending on the grand entrance hall with thoughts of relaxation in mind.

Lavish and impressive, the kitchen is a welcoming yet functional space that exudes warm energy throughout with a sense of French country living. A central island donned with wooden worktops provides an elegant spot for chopping up your locally sourced vegetables for a hearty feast, served with handcrafted artisan bread liberally spread with butter. Stand shoulder to shoulder with your fellow cooks, whipping up a whole host of tempting dishes using the staggering array of equipment. There is an electric range-style cooker, two electric ovens, a microwave, an American-style fridge/freezer and a dishwasher to serve all your culinary needs, and help with the cleaning up after the meal.

An archway connects the kitchen to the fabulous dining area that’s surprisingly traditional with its exposed ceiling beam and a range in the fireplace. The wooden table has ample seating for your entire party, a perfect spot for celebratory family dinners and hearty breakfasts alike. Split into two with plush leather sofas at either end, the delightful lounge welcomes you with a soothing embrace. Two wood burners crackle invitingly from the adjacent fireplaces, the dancing flames lapping against the glass and casting a warm glow over the entire living space. Turn on the TV and sink back to catch up on your favourite shows over a tasty tipple, or simply recline and appreciate the ambience with a good book. Listen to the weather raging wildly outside and break out the board games for the youngsters before uncorking a bottle of wine and snuggling down on the sofas to catch up with your nearest and dearest.

Ascend the stairs at bedtime and discover five exquisite bedrooms all equipped with lavish beds that can be flexibly arranged to suit your group size and make-up. Tucked in the eaves of the house is a marvellous suite split into two areas complete with garden views and a superb shower room for an added splash of luxury. The super-king-size bed can be split into twins on request, and there is an extravagant dressing area that doubles as a nook for placing a cot for the tiniest of visitors. The remaining bedrooms are set on the first floor, all equipped with handy en-suite bathrooms or shower rooms and a variety of bed sizes and layouts. Completing the first floor is a handy utility room with a washing machine and a tumble dryer for any laundry requirements.

Let the outside in and throw open the lounge and kitchen doors for an al fresco feel and garden vistas. Come together for breakfast in the sunshine, sipping rich and intense coffee from the comfort of the garden chairs, then set off for a walk across the landscaped gardens to admire the ponds. Take care with young guests as you navigate the beautifully maintained shared grounds. There’s ample off-road parking too.

Studded between Harrogate (7 miles) and Ripon (6.5 miles), Markington is a splendid village for exploring this beautiful corner of Yorkshire. The grand Victorian spa town of Harrogate is regularly listed as the best place to live in the UK. The truly gorgeous Yorkshire town combines traditional elegance with contemporary style effortlessly. And the Duchy suburb is well known as being one of the most desirable postcodes in town.

Best known for its antiques and fine art, Harrogate has antique dealers and galleries around every corner, particularly around the Montpellier Quarter. If buying old paintings and furniture isn't your bag, there are a host of other reasons to part with your cash in Harrogate. High fashion outlets nestle alongside lavish interior boutiques, punctuated with enough fine restaurants and cafes to keep you fuelled for weeks.

A visit to Bettys Tearoom is a must and, if you have time, we highly recommend a session at the famous Turkish Baths. Rejuvenate spirit and soul after a day on the town. If you're travelling with children, Harrogate is famous for its outdoor space with lots of parkland and greenery everywhere. The RHS gardens at Harlow Carr are also a fantastic option for families.

The vibrant cathedral city of Ripon boasts a Thursday market, numerous coffee shops, pubs, restaurants and a nice collection of independent shops to explore. The cathedral is smaller than its close neighbour, York Minster, but is still an awe-inspiring sight. In addition, every night for at least 450 years the Ripon Hornblower has sounded the curfew at 9pm from all four sides of the obelisk in the marketplace, come rain or shine, followed by a 15-minute history of the ceremony and the city – an experience not to be missed! If you are partial to a flutter, Ripon Race Ground has around 15 meets from April to early September. Known as 'Yorkshire's Garden Racecourse' it has a distinct atmosphere harking back to a bygone era – traditional tearooms and bandstands sit alongside the champagne bar.

This area of Yorkshire has enough historic sites to keep you busy for a week with Ripley Castle (3 miles), Newby Hall (9 miles) and Norton Conyers (11.4 miles) all close by. Visit lovely Fountains Abbey and the gorgeous Studley Royal Water Garden, 5.5 miles away – this World Heritage site is deservedly one of the National Trust's most visited locations. As well as the spectacular ruins of a 12th-century Cistercian abbey, the grounds are home to an Elizabethan Mansion, a medieval deer park and some of the most romantic vistas in the country.

Reynard house is by far the best holiday rental we have ever stayed in, a quintessentially English country house. The property is outstanding and the gardens are incredibly beautiful. A walk in the garden is a whole experience on its own-a garden you can get lost in. Cannot wait to return!

Such a beautiful house and a fantastic garden, we have had a lovely relaxing stay. This is a really special place and it was amazing to have the garden to ourselves to discover all of the different areas. It seemed to go on forever! I am already missing my morning coffee in the rug garden. We hope to return soon.
