Relax and unwind in this stylish property, the perfect base for families and couples to explore the local area and enjoy some quality time together.

Envisage your ideal staycation in rural Yorkshire, choosing the quintessential village of Gilberdyke as the vantage point for your explorations. This characterful property with a hot tub is situated in a prime position to discover the hidden gems of the East Riding area, whether you are enthralled by pretty market towns or keen to rediscover nature in all its glory. The village itself has a selection of eateries to choose from including country pubs and a popular garden centre that’s a great choice for slabs of homemade cake and a soothing brew.

Beneath the red brick exterior is a homely abode that’s contemporary and stylish inside, providing a restful retreat for six guests. Ideally suited to families and small groups, you’ll soon be enjoying leisurely evenings curled up watching films and swapping stories over board games with tall glasses fizzing with your favourite tipple.

Cast aside your muddy boots and coats as you venture through the front door, immediately greeted by a cheerfully decorated hallway that has ample storage space. The delightful lounge area provides warmth, relaxation and homeliness in abundance thanks to the deep sofas and flame-effect gas fire. Warm your cockles and watch TV, or simply sit back and daydream as you peer through the feature windows.

A doorway leads through to the chic kitchen/diner that’s superbly equipped for preparing all those delicious meals you’ve been imagining. Transform the finest Yorkshire ingredients into meals fit for a king, gathering your party around the oak table for hearty breakfasts and lavish suppers. There’s an electric oven and hob, a microwave and a fridge/freezer for all your culinary needs, and in terms of practicality, you’ll also find a handy dishwasher and a washer/dryer. The piece de resistance is the Dolce Gusto coffee machine, a bonus treat for coffee enthusiasts.

Each bedroom has been thoughtfully styled and carries its own distinct colour palette of soft hues combined with the overall neutral decor. Choose from a cosy double, a charming twin, and an elegant king-size suite complete with its own en-suite shower room. Select your favourite book and pour a glass of wine before retreating to the bathroom for a well-deserved spot of pampering, dipping your shoulders in the bubbliest of bubble baths or refreshing yourself with an invigorating shower in the separate cubicle. Clad in your cosiest pyjamas, you’ll be sorely tempted to retire to your sleeping quarters with a mug of hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and marshmallows galore.

On crisp and clear mornings take your caffeine fix out to the small courtyard at the front, nursing the hot cup between your hands and taking a seat at the bijou table and chairs. It’s a pleasant place to unwind and reflect on the day ahead. Heading outside to the rear of the bungalow, you’ll find a spacious enclosed garden with a patch of lawn and patio area with hot tub, just the ticket for balmy afternoons enjoying a relaxed soak before a BBQ and garden games. Cyclists can store their bikes in the secure shed, and there’s off-road parking for two cars.

Hull is a treasure trove of amusements 20 miles away with its inspiring art galleries, museums and guided walking tours. Follow the Blue Plaque Trail to learn about the city’s rich heritage, channel your inner Houdini with a visit to the brilliant Escape Rooms, and treat yourself to an afternoon creating and sampling the finest gin at the local distillery. For young visitors, The Deep is not to be missed with its striking architecture and spectacular position at the point where Hull meets the River Humber. Inside, there are over 5,000 animals and 300 species to discover.

The iconic Humber Bridge is a sight to behold as you approach, it is one of the world’s longest single-span suspension bridges and a masterpiece of engineering. Cross the bridge into Lincolnshire and discover the historic streets of Barton-upon-Humber (16.5 miles), a bustling town lined with Georgian properties and liberally scattered with attractions. Thornton Abbey (22.5 miles) invites you to take a step back in time through its imposing gatehouse, or why not spend the afternoon wandering through the Water’s Edge Country Park and Visitors Centre (17 miles).

The beautiful market town of Beverley is one of Yorkshire’s best-kept secrets, 17 miles away, and its stunning 13th-century Beverley Minster is often regarded as one of Europe’s finest Gothic churches. Take a look at the town’s medieval architecture before indulging in a spot of shopping around its lively cobbled squares. Finish off with a drink in one of the traditional Yorkshire pubs where time has stood still for decades.

Beyond the town, get to know the gorgeous Yorkshire Wolds, a range of low rolling hills rising from the River Humber and sweeping along to the stunning cliffs at Flamborough Head. The gentle nature of the countryside here makes it an excellent location for walking and cycling.

To the north, York is certainly worthy of the 27.5-mile drive, simply to take in the history of the cobbled streets and the fantastic range of contemporary designer shops, cafes, restaurants and bars beneath the crooked old buildings. This ancient walled city has been the north's spiritual capital for 2,000 years, but that's not to say it is stuck in the past; York's affluent population and its influx of tourist pounds has helped to create a cultural and commercial oasis. Make sure you visit York Minster, The Shambles, the Railway Museum and Bettys tearoom whilst you're there.

In a lovely are the Lodge was spacious and spotless. The hot tub was well maintained and a big plus. Traffic noise when sitting in the garden was intrusive but not noticeable in the Lodge. Owners were on hand if needed and were very welcoming. A relaxing break for us and the dogs.

Lovely holiday cottage, everything that you could need and spotlessly clean. Loved the hot tub and the secure garden for the dog. Comfy settees in the lounge were a big bonus. Ideally situated for visiting York, Beverley and Bridlington. Even went up to Scarborough for the day. A big thank you to Sarah for a lovely stay.
