A pretty two-bedroom cottage, surrounded by farmland within the village of Crayke, the perfect Yorkshire getaway for families or friends.

Nestled on the outskirts of Crayke, this pretty two-bedroom cottage offers a rural retreat with a touch of sophistication. Set at the edge of the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this dog-friendly property sleeps four people in two bedrooms, making it ideal for a couples’ escape or a family-friendly getaway. Part of a small group of holiday cottages on the owner’s grounds, it’s surrounded by farmland, ancient woodland and meandering rivers, and is only 3 miles from the Georgian market town of Easingwold, renowned as a foodie paradise.

Laid out over a single floor and fully refurbished to a high standard, this charming stone cottage feels like a true home-from-home. Neutral hues throughout give it a tranquil ambiance with pops of colour and pattern for interest, and thoughtful finishing touches.

After adventurous days walking, cycling and visiting the region’s numerous attractions, return here to relax in the spacious, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Thoughtfully arranged and perfect for socialising, it forms the heart of this lovely home.

The fully equipped kitchen boasts all the mod cons for you to create delicious meals from the delightful Yorkshire produce picked up at local markets and artisan stores. Gather together to dine in or out, with a dining table in the living area and a bistro table on the terrace, which offers magnificent country views.

As dusk falls, this is a great spot to enjoy an after-dinner tipple while watching the stars appearing overhead and listening for owls. Alternatively fill the lounge with laughter and chatter as you share a bottle of wine and chat about your plans, or get comfy to watch a film or catch up on your favourite TV series.

When bedtime calls, you’ll find two inviting bedrooms along the hall. Choose between an elegant king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower room, or a cosy twin room, which has use of the family bathroom.

Private parking is available for two cars, while electric vehicle charging is available at the cost of £30 per stay, payable directly to the owner.

  • 2 bedrooms - 1 king and 1 twin with single beds

Located on the fringe of the Howardian Hills, Crayke is a peaceful village, steeped in history, with a castle dating to the 15th century and a historic church. Located close to the market town of Easingwold, it makes a great base for adventures in Yorkshire.

Nestled in the heart of North Yorkshire, Easingwold (2.5 miles) is a charming market town at the foot of the Howardian Hills. Know affectionately to locals as ‘The Wold’, this picturesque town boasts stunning Georgian architecture, and is home to a host of independent retailers from family-run newsagents to independent boutiques and galleries.

This thriving town is centred on its biggest attraction ¬– the pretty Georgian marketplace. The weekly Friday market is a hub of activity with stalls selling fresh local produce, handmade crafts and artisanal goods. In addition, there’s a monthly farmers’ market held on the third Wednesday of every month and a monthly artisan market on the second Saturday of every month.

In recent years, this delightful town has developed a reputation as a foodie haven, thanks in part to the market. Home to one of the top three delicatessens in Britain, one of the England’s best tearooms, along with a host of award-winning gastropubs and a superb bakery, this is one destination you shouldn’t miss if you love good food.

For those who love the great outdoors, this area is a paradise for hikers, cyclists and nature lovers alike. A richly varied landscape of ancient woodland, farmland, fens, historic parkland and scattered settlements, the Howardian Hills is simply stunning. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is home to castles, monasteries and grand houses, including Kirkham Priory (14 miles) and Castle Howard (13 miles). Alternatively, head north to the Yorkshire Moors (from around 14 miles), a vast expanse of rugged heather moorland, peppered with ancient ruins and steeped in history.

This area isn’t just about landscapes and nature. Steeped in history and culture, the city of York is just 13.5 miles away, offering a multitude of attractions from the imposing York Minster to the cobbled streets of the Shambles.

A beautiful property in a great location and the proprietors were on hand but no need to raise anything with them. The standard of the furniture and the kitchen equipment was of high quality.

Lucy and Richard have done a fabulous job renovating the cottage. We stayed in Blossom Cottage with my 80 year old parents who found easy access with walk in shower and ground floor accomodation ideal with their poor mobility.
