A real home-from-home, his lovingly-converted barn has room for the whole family to relax and explore the Yorkshire Dales, perfect for fun and fresh air.

Delve into countryside life and stay in this beautifully converted barn at the heart of a quintessential village in the Yorkshire Dales. Encircled by seemingly endless green hills, pockets of woodland and deep valleys, your accommodation sleeps eight guests in complete comfort along with two canine companions. Lace up your walking boots and navigate the rugged landscape by day with a pit stop for lunch in a country pub, then return for splendid evenings spending quality time together as the weather rages outside on cold nights.

Gently open the entrance doors to reveal a majestic open-plan living space that effortlessly blends traditional charm and contemporary elegance, inviting you to cast aside your worries and concentrate on snuggling up with a glass of something fizzing and delicious. On chilly days, the underfloor heating further heightens the hygge appeal of the ground-floor living quarters, accompanying timeless timber beams and glimpses of exposed stone. Deep sofas in the lounge area surround a wooden coffee table, an ideal spot for lingering over tea and cake. In contrast, the vast table is a splendid choice for fine dining by candlelight.

Steps lead up to the sleek kitchen area that’s characterised by its high vaulted ceilings, impressive breakfast bar and industrial-style lighting. Chic cabinetry and ample worktop space beckon for chopping up your ingredients in preparation for a feast, and integrated appliances such as the electric double oven, induction hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, wine fridge and dishwasher make navigating culinary matters a breeze. The coffee enthusiasts among you will take great delight in preparing a morning caffeine fix using the Nespresso coffee machine, selecting a pod for a smooth brew.

Challenge your party to some healthy competition and post-dinner drinks to round off an evening of festivities, retreating to the snug/games room to watch an exciting film on the TV. The youngest members of the group will have the joy of playing on a pool table sized just for them, or why not bring along some cards and get the grown-ups reminiscing over their favourite games? Round off with hot cocoa topped with lashings of whipped cream and some tempting marshmallows, and perhaps a drop of something extra for the assembled adults.

Weary from an evening of good food and excellent company, it is time to retire to bed and enjoy a wonderful night’s sleep. Ascending the stairs will reward you with four crisply styled double bedrooms, all featuring classic decor and sumptuously soft bedding. One of the bedrooms has sloped ceilings and low beams, so be sure to mind your head. Another bedroom has the bonus treat of an en-suite shower room, but the generous family bathroom is certainly a lavish addition with its bath and separate shower.

Practical matters have been thought of with the addition of a handy utility room to cater for any laundry needs with a washer/dryer and storage space for muddy shoes. Store your bikes after an exhilarating ride through the surrounding countryside in the bike rack provided; there’s ample space for up to eight bicycles. Off-road parking is available for three cars outside too. Your large patio area is partially enclosed by a short stone wall and pretty plants for an air of privacy. After a long day soaking up the countryside air, there is nothing quite like reclining on the garden furniture with a cold drink whilst the BBQ warms up.

Rylstone may be a tiny village nestled at the foot of the Yorkshire Dales, but its reputation precedes it thanks to its glittering significance as the inspiration behind Wordsworth’s famous poem ‘The White Doe of Rylstone’. Not only this, but some of its residents are the original Calendar Girls, the motivation for the well-known film. The Grade II-listed church, stone obelisk and historic cross are worth exploring for a step back in time, and there are lots of glorious scenic walks across the fells available from your front doorstep.

The historic town of Skipton (4.5 miles) is also close by and offers a host of other attractions including its very own castle. There are lots of options to eat here as well as independent shops making it a great option for a full day out. Other nearby attractions include the Kilnsey Trout Farm and horse riding at Coniston, Malham.

It's a true walker's paradise here but if you're more of a roamer than a rambler, try a stroll around the grounds of nearby Bolton Abbey (9 miles). These gorgeous ruins provide the backdrop to a particularly beautiful part of the Dales and are well worth a visit. There are a host of other attractions all within easy reach including Malham Cove and Malham Tarn (both within 10.5 miles).

Settle (19 miles) is a well-loved and bustling market town home to lots of lovely cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops. There's also a thriving market held in the town every Tuesday - the perfect place to pick up everything from flowers to dinner that night. If real ale is your thing, there are three fantastic real ale pubs set around the marketplace, so you can choose which one to try each evening! Just outside of town, you can hop on the Settle to Carlisle railway, one of the most scenic routes in the UK.

Crossing into the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Pateley Bridge (15 miles) is a charming little market town, very typical of this area of Yorkshire. The main street is peppered with cafes, restaurants, local stores, quality butchers and a wine shop; everything you need to stock up for your stay. You'll also find the self-proclaimed 'Oldest Sweet Shop in England' here dating back to the early 1800s. From here, there are plenty of local attractions and stunning natural sights within easy driving distance including the fabulous Brimham Rocks (19 miles).

Lovely property, clean, warm, great location for visiting places like Skipton and Harrogate. Kitchen well stocked. Lovely toilets and bathrooms. The only negative for me was the lack of a secure area / garden for the dogs. Probably my fault for not reading the reviews properly. We would definitely go back though. Thanks

Wonderful cottage with excellent modern facilities and perfect location for our family of 7 adults and 2 dogs to visit sights in the Dales. The barn is a lovely conversion with comfy beds and well equipped. Good location for the dales. It is however right on a very busy noisy road which kept us awake in the early hours. Also as a barn it is quite dark and we had to have the lights on the whole time. The welcome pack was disappointing and had mouldy bread, which was replaced.
