A quintessential Dales town located in the breathtakingly beautiful region of Lower Wensleydale, a perfect hideaway for couples looking for somewhere peaceful to retreat to after exploring and being surrounded by breathtaking scenery.

Escape to the rolling hills and tranquil valleys of the Yorkshire Dales and Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, embracing a break characterised by scenic strolls, delicious food and lots of breathtaking walks across this romantic wilderness. You’ll be positioned on the cusp of Masham, a glorious town that attracts foodies in their droves thanks to the abundance of eateries and popular distilleries, perfect for all those adventures you’ll soon be enjoying as a twosome. Having easy access to a shop and cafe on-site is an added bonus, and there’s plenty to discover beyond the grounds of this attractive seasonal caravan site.

Duck through the attractive exterior and be swept off your feet by the marvellous open-plan living space with its high ceilings, wooden beams and stylish floor tiles, shrugging off your coat and perching at the breakfast bar with a soothing brew. The decor is modern-chic with a trendy twist as evidenced by the hanging lights and indoor plants, whilst underfloor heating creates a wonderful sensation of being at home. Grab a snack, switch on the TV and snuggle down into the sofa for an exciting film night, or simply pick up a book and appreciate the solitude.

A day of wandering around Masham will reward you with a whole host of local delicacies including homegrown produce and locally sourced goodies, so be sure to put your culinary skills to the test in your marvellous kitchen area. There’s an electric oven and hob and a microwave for any type of meal you wish to prepare, plus a fridge/freezer for storing your spoils. Relaxation is the key here, so there is even a dishwasher to take care of the washing up. The friendly owners have gone the extra mile and provided a fabulous welcome pack of treats and essentials to kick start your stay too.

At bedtime, the pretty bedroom awaits with its neutral walls and floral details just like a true country-cottage retreat. Gently sloping ceilings and timber beams add to the classic charm, and the crisply-dressed bed can be made up as either a set of twins or as a super-king-size bed. Before you rest your head, the elegant shower room is a sheer treat with its walk-in shower cubicle for long, refreshing showers. Bring along your favourite toiletries from home and fully embrace a night of pampering, easing your tired bones and perhaps rounding off with a nightcap before bed.

After a busy day exploring near and far, return to your cosy abode to bask in the fading sunlight on your private patio. Equipped with a bistro-style table and two chairs, it is a pleasant spot to unwind with a glass of wine in hand, watching the sunset and counting the stars when they come out to play. In terms of practicality, there is a shop and a cafe within the vicinity as well as a handy on-site laundry room. Off-road parking is available for one car, and further parking is available in the main car park if needed.

Masham, a thriving market town, is where handsome old Georgian buildings gather politely around a cobbled square. The square is one of the largest and finest in England, famous for its sheep sale where in the past as many as 70,000 sheep were sold every year! The popular Masham Sheep Fair is held in September annually and commemorates these times.

There are lots of delights to discover in the town including an excellent fine dining restaurant, a host of lovely cafes, a top-notch wine shop and several very good butchers. And if you enjoy a tipple or two, it's also home to two award-winning breweries: Theakston’s and Black Sheep. Both have visitor centres where you can take brewery tours, sample their ales, enjoy excellent food and perhaps take a few bottles home for later too! A lovely 9-hole golf course awaits if you enjoy a round of golf.

Heading west will take you over the high ground of Nidderdale and down into Pateley Bridge, 15.5 miles away, a very popular and bustling market town. To the south, why not visit the cathedral city of Ripon with its vibrant Thursday market – just 9.5 miles away? Just over 5 miles in the opposite direction takes you further up into Wensleydale with the wonderful Jervaulx Abbey and Brymor ice-cream parlour just a short drive away.

The town is also a short drive (around 8.5 miles) from Middleham, one of Yorkshire's loveliest towns. Famous for its castle (once the childhood home of Richard III) it's also a centre of racehorse training and known as the 'Newmarket of the North'. There are 14 stables open to the public every Good Friday and you can also arrange tours for some on request. If you are there early on most days of the week, you can see the horses being ridden through the town up to the gallops every morning. And to top it off, there is a lovely collection of pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops.

Or how about a morning visiting the charming market town of Leyburn which is just over 10.5 miles away? Leyburn is a typical slice of Dales market town life. You'll find traditional shops, pubs and cafes all gathered around the handsome town square, which hosts a busy market every Friday. Leyburn is also home to Tennants Auctioneers, the biggest auction centre outside of London if you fancy picking up a bargain. Discover its newly opened cafe and restaurant serving excellent food along with its gift shop and galleries.

The nearby historic town of Richmond (14.5 miles) is similar in many ways and has a lovely setting along the River Swale. Highlights include Richmond Castle, the historic Georgian Theatre Royal and The Station (a lovely old building housing a cinema, art gallery and brewery).

There are lots of other pretty villages and stunning natural sights all within close range of Little Wickets. Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle are both around 17 miles away and the gorgeous villages of West Burton and Askrigg are within easy driving distance – 17.5 and 22.5 miles respectively, so you have lots of choice for things to do if you want to get out and about. If walking is your thing, the Yorkshire Dales are something of a walker's paradise. And there are plenty of options for cycling, too.
