A peaceful and romantic haven with a private hot tub, designed for couples and situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales near to the market town of Settle.

Picture an extra special holiday in the countryside, treading winding trails through spectacular of landscapes by day and snuggling up by the dancing embers of a roaring fire by night. This traditional Yorkshire cottage is an idyllic vantage point for couples and very close friends to explore the Yorkshire Dales in all their finery, venturing into the thriving market town of Settle for a potter around the shops and afternoon tea in a delightful cafe. Returning from your adventures with a spring in your step after good food and good wine, your evening is best spent unwinding in the hot tub with a glass of something fizzing and delicious.

Studded against a backdrop of fields crisscrossed by stone walls, this annexe is joined to another beautiful property, yet feels delightfully private. Crunch across the gravel and enter through the rustic exterior to find a marvellous abode that’s been laid out in a reverse-level style to make the most of the spellbinding views. Carefully styled with comfort and elegance in mind, the bedroom is snuggled on the ground floor complete with silvery carpet and sumptuous soft furnishing. The original stone wall is exposed with an inglenook fireplace at its centre. Tucked within the hearth is a wood burner, a wonderful addition for cosy nights curled up in the king-size bed soothed by the crackle of the flames. A plush sofa backs on to heavy wooden doors that open to reveal the countryside beyond, and throwing these open will introduce an al fresco vibe to your mornings.

Ascend the stairs to find the open-plan living space perched at the top of the house for jaw-dropping views, appreciated over a steaming mug of hot chocolate topped with lashings of whipped cream. Sink back into the impossibly deep sofas and watch a film together, delving into your welcome pack with your feet up on the footstool. The kitchen area may be compact, but it features an electric oven/hob, a fridge and a microwave for all your culinary needs, and a dishwasher to take care of the clean-up operation afterwards. Rustle up simple meals or hearty suppers, perching at the bijou table and chairs to dine in style. Light the candles, pour a tipple and chat over dinner, swapping memories and exciting ideas of your holiday escapades. Completing this floor is a sleek shower room, a tempting sight for a pamper session.

Outside, the private patio provides spectacular views of the tumbling dales beyond, lulling you into a complete sense of tranquillity from the moment you take a seat at the table. Savour a spot of afternoon tea with a glass of bubbly on special occasions, then at sunset the hot tub beckons for complete relaxation. You’ll feel completely spoilt as you dip your shoulders under the bubbles, counting the stars as they emerge in the sky.

In terms of practicality, off-road parking is available for one car. Regret no washing machine, but you are sure to find laundry services in Skipton 14 miles away.

There's also a thriving market held in the town every Tuesday – the perfect place to pick up everything from flowers to dinner that night. If real ale is your thing, there are three fantastic real ale pubs set around the market place, so you can choose which one to try each evening.

Just outside of town, you can hop on the Settle to Carlisle railway, one of the most scenic routes in the UK which will take you over the well-known Ribblehead Viaduct (18.5 miles). Beyond Settle, you have the exquisite delights of the Yorkshire Dales. And, as you would expect, the surrounding countryside here is simply magnificent, perfect if you want to strike out from the cottage in your walking boots or on your bicycle.

The historic town of Skipton (14 miles) is also close by and offers a host of other attractions including its very own castle. There are lots of options to eat here as well as independent shops making it a great option for a full day out. Other nearby attractions include the Kilnsey Trout Farm and horse riding at Coniston, Malham.

It's a true walker's paradise here but if you're more of a roamer than a rambler, try a stroll around the grounds of nearby Bolton Abbey (18 miles). These gorgeous ruins provide the backdrop to a particularly beautiful part of the Dales and are well worth a visit. There are a host of other attractions all within easy reach including Malham Cove and Malham Tarn (both 10.5 miles).

Lovely comfy stay in a quiet location, only the sound of the sheep to wake us up. Hosts very friendly and immediately on call if we needed anything. Location near the town on Settle and easy to get to other places in the Dales, lovely to have a hot tub to relax in at the end of the day! Also bottle of Prosecco and cake a nice welcome touch.
