Elevated above a tapestry of luscious green pastures is this charming former barn that sleeps four in rural splendour. Ideally situated for outdoor adventures throughout the stunning Craven District of Yorkshire, the property is nestled within the grounds of the owner’s 18th-century farmhouse and guarantees a warm welcome. Treat that special someone or your small family to an unforgettable staycation characterised by muddy walks and tasty pub lunches, rounding off with a BBQ on balmy evenings in the private garden. There’s even a welcome pack of goodies and essentials to kick-start your stay and there’s also the added bonus of a pizza oven for extra special suppers under the stars.

Simply presented with an overarching rustic appeal, your open-plan living space is flooded with natural pouring in through the bi-fold doors, revealing the glorious countryside beyond. Parquet flooring underfoot keeps you toasty warm thanks to the underfloor heating, so you’ll feel completely at home curling up on the lavish sofas with a good page-turner and a generous mug of hot chocolate. Switch on the TV and catch an exciting film, or settle down to play board games whilst the wind blows a gale outside. The layout is perfect for socialising as a family, so the budding chefs amongst you will have excellent company as they prepare hearty meals in the farmhouse-style kitchen. Equipped with an electric oven, hob, microwave, fridge and a small freezer, you’ll have everything you need to cook up a storm. There’s also a washer/dryer for all your laundry needs.

Climb the stairs at bedtime and discover your sleeping quarters all laid out with crisp linen, scatter cushions and soothing lighting, all the trimmings you need to recharge your energy. The first bedroom features pretty zip-and-link beds that can be made up as either twin beds or a super-king-size bed, and the second has a king-size bed. Countryside views from the window greet you on even the most windswept mornings, but the underfloor heating downstairs will keep the chill off as you make your way to the kitchen for breakfast. As an added bonus, both bedrooms have their very own en-suite shower rooms for a little taste of indulgence.

When the day is done why not venture outside to stargaze? BBQ suppers are a welcome treat when you have so much tempting local produce available in the neighbouring towns and villages, and even the most reluctant cooks among you will enjoy whipping up a quick pizza using the pizza oven. Sit down to eat against a backdrop of rolling hills and grazing livestock, or take a break from cooking and hop in the car to find some traditional Yorkshire fare in a welcoming village pub. The nearest is within 2 miles and easily reached on foot or by bike if you fancy a scenic ramble. The property has secure storage for bikes on request as well as off-road parking for two cars and two electric car charging points.

Those with a love of the outdoors will quickly fall for the Craven District and all its brilliance thanks to the glorious scenery, charming market towns and sleepy villages scattered throughout this captivating blend of outcrops, green hills and rugged moorland. It's a true walker's paradise here but if you're more of a roamer than a rambler, try a stroll around the grounds of nearby Bolton Abbey (15.5 miles). These gorgeous ruins provide the backdrop to a particularly beautiful part of the Dales and are well worth a visit.

The historic town of Skipton (9.5 miles) is also close by and offers a host of other attractions including its very own castle. There are lots of options to eat here as well as independent shops making it a great option for a full day out. Other nearby attractions include the Kilnsey Trout Farm and horse riding at Coniston, Malham, both within 20 miles.

Settle is 22 miles away and is a well-loved and bustling market town home to lots of lovely cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops. There's also a thriving market held in the town every Tuesday – the perfect place to pick up everything from flowers to dinner that night. If real ale is your thing, there are three fantastic real ale pubs set around the marketplace, so you can choose which one to try each evening!

Just outside of town, you can hop on the Settle to Carlisle railway, one of the most scenic routes in the UK which will take you over the well-known Ribblehead Viaduct. Beyond Settle, you have the exquisite delights of the Yorkshire Dales. And, as you would expect, the surrounding countryside here is simply magnificent, perfect if you want to strike out from the cottage in your walking boots or on your bicycle.

Keighley is a must for any railway enthusiast too – located just 8 miles away, it is the terminus of the Keighley and Worth Valley heritage steam railway. Running between the village itself to Oxenhope across the beautiful Worth Valley, the line is most famous for its pivotal role in the beloved 1970s classic The Railway Children and, more recently, Sherlock. The Timothy Taylor Brewery is also located nearby in Knowle Spring, 8 miles.

Sheep dip barn was a very clean, modern and comfortable base for our time in Yorkshire/Lancashire with easy access to local shops, restaurants etc. The only slight negative was the lack of cupboard space in the kitchen and the hedge around the seating area blocked the amazing views around the cottage. Had a lovely stay. The cottage was spotlessly clean and felt at home straight away. The "welcome" goodies were appreciated. Had great days out at Skipton, steam train to Haworth, walk to the Bronte waterfall, Brimham Rocks, afternoon tea at Betty's Tearooms in Ilkley. Hope to return.
