Nestled in the vibrant village of Masham, this cosy cottage, packed with character, offers comfortable accommodation for up to eight guests, a truly beautiful base for exploring this stunning area.

Discover five-star accommodation in the heart of Lower Wensleydale, staying with your beloved family in the charming market town of Masham. Filled to the brim with signature sandstone properties and Yorkshire architecture, the town itself boasts both beauty and character. Sample a local tipple in the town’s local breweries or gin distillery, or keep it simple with an evening spent in one of the welcoming public houses.

Situated less than 0.5 miles from the town centre is this magnificent country cottage. This handsome property offers a generous allocation of space for eight guests across four bedrooms, perfect for two smaller families travelling together or a holidaymaking gang of friends. Perfectly suited to groups with a range of interests, the property offers easy access to the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors National Parks for walking, hiking or cycling, along with close proximity to Richmond and Ripon for less strenuous expeditions.

Step inside to uncover a fantastic holiday home with a country-meets-contemporary decor throughout. You’ll be pleased to find that original elements including stone-flagged flooring and feature fireplaces have been lovingly maintained to retain the cottage’s historic character, whilst the surrounding decor has been updated to offer a stylish home from home.

Enter into the cosy lounge which boasts an attractive ambience, complete with a wood burner for keeping the entire space snug throughout the colder months. A sprawling sofa and matching comfy armchair offer an inviting space to hunker down on nights in or rainy days spent indoors, simply grab a throw and hunker down. Feel free to select a book or board game from the bookcase, or simply switch on the Smart TV to enjoy a family favourite TV show or film.

The lounge opens up into a bright and spacious kitchen/diner which offers excellent social space and a bustling hub of the home. A quality dining table creates a centre point of the dining area, complete with farmhouse-style wooden chairs and more than enough room for eight guests to comfortably dine together.

The kitchen itself sits beside stunning bi-fold glass doors which provide direct access to the patio. Even in the winter months, these glass doors allow the bright and fresh kitchen to be flooded with light. Naturally, summer stays are made even better with these doors flung wide open, perfect for dining alfresco or simply letting children play whilst meals are being prepared.

An abundance of surface space, including a kitchen island with a breakfast bar, is on offer for the chef of the group to make use of. Whether you’re preparing a full English for eight or a fantastic Sunday roast, integrated appliances, including the double electric oven, ensure that this job is no harder than it needs to be. Be sure to enjoy a Nespresso coffee or two from the machine whilst preparing the former.

From the kitchen, step through into a handy utility room which also provides direct access to the rear patio. Here you’ll find an abundance of room for storing outerwear, a handy bench for pulling off those muddy boots or wellies, and helpful washing facilities.

When it's time to turn in, there are four bedrooms to rest your head. The first of these can be found right here on the ground floor. This master bedroom is a beautiful king-size with a majestic feature fireplace and charming decor. Put clothes away in the antique wardrobe and sink into a comfortable bed for a truly unbeatable night's sleep.

Three equally inviting bedrooms can be accessed just upstairs on the first floor. Made up of a king-size, a double and a twin, each one of these bedrooms promises to facilitate a sumptuous night of 8-hours sleep. The double bedroom also benefits from the luxury of an en-suite with a shower and WC.

A beautifully finished family bathroom completes the first floor. With a pretty colour scheme and fantastic tiles, this spacious bathroom is a quality space to get ready each morning or lounge around in the tub late at night.

Yorkshire flagstones pave the pretty patio to the rear, a perfectly enclosed space where children can play and fresh air can be enjoyed. The space comes with furniture for dining alfresco or sitting back with a good book. Finally, find an additional secure storage area where your bikes and other outdoor equipment can be kept out of harm's way.

Masham, a thriving market town, is where handsome old Georgian buildings gather politely around a cobbled square. The square is one of the largest and finest in England, famous for its sheep sale where in the past as many as 70,000 sheep were sold here every year! The popular Masham Sheep Fair is held in September each year and commemorates these times.

There are lots of delights to discover in the town including an excellent fine dining restaurant, a host of lovely cafes, a top-notch wine shop and several very good butchers. And if you enjoy a tipple or two, it's also home to two award-winning breweries: Theakstons and Black Sheep. Both have visitor centres where you can take brewery tours, sample their ales, enjoy excellent food and perhaps take a few bottles home for later too! A lovely 9-hole golf course awaits if you enjoy a round of golf.

Heading west will take you over the high ground of Nidderdale and down into Pateley Bridge, 15.5 miles away, a very popular and bustling market town. To the south, why not visit the cathedral city of Ripon with its vibrant Thursday market – just 9.5 miles away? Just over 5 miles in the opposite direction takes you further up into Wensleydale with the wonderful Jervaulx Abbey and Brymor ice cream parlour just a short drive away.

The town is also a short drive (around 8.5 miles) from Middleham, one of Yorkshire's loveliest towns. Famous for its castle (once the childhood home of Richard III) it's also a centre of racehorse training and known as the 'Newmarket of the North'. 14 stables are open to the public every Good Friday and you can also arrange tours for some on request. If you are there early on most days of the week, you can see the horses being ridden through the town up to the gallops every morning. And to top it off, there is a lovely collection of pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops.

Or how about a morning visiting the charming market town of Leyburn which is just over 10.5 miles away? Leyburn is a typical slice of Dales market town life. You'll find traditional shops, pubs and cafes all gathered around the handsome town square, which hosts a busy market every Friday. Leyburn is also home to Tennants Auctioneers, the biggest auction centre outside of London if you fancy picking up a bargain. Discover its newly opened cafe and restaurant serving excellent food along with its gift shop and galleries.

The nearby historic town of Richmond (14.5 miles) is similar in many ways and has a lovely setting along the River Swale. Highlights include Richmond Castle, the historic Georgian Theatre Royal and The Station (a lovely old building housing a cinema, art gallery and brewery).

There are lots of other pretty villages and stunning natural sights all within close range of Little Wickets. Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle are both around 17 miles away and the gorgeous villages of West Burton and Askrigg are within easy driving distance – 17.5 and 22.5 miles respectively, so you have lots of choices for things to do if you want to get out and about. If walking is your thing, the Yorkshire Dales are something of a walker's paradise. And there are plenty of options for cycling, too.
