Enjoy having the many attractions of Middleham right on the doorstep. This is a Yorkshire town that is known for its history and horse racing. Much of the history surrounds its Norman castle, which you can explore after watching the horses as they make their way to the gallops every morning. The pretty cobbled market square offers a range of shops, pubs, and places to eat. The bustling market town of Leyburn is just 2 miles away and offers a variety of great shops and pubs. Younger members of your party can enjoy trips to the Forbidden Corner, 2.5 miles away, with its intriguing labyrinth of tunnels and chambers. From Middleham, venture out into the spectacular scenery of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Open the splendid front door to this imposing property and let yourselves into its grand reception hall, with its generous space, tiled floor and chandelier hinting at the luxury to come. Wander on through to the magnificent lounge, where you and your nearest and dearest can gather together after each busy day out immersing yourselves in your Yorkshire surroundings. Light the open fire in here, find a film for everyone to enjoy on the Smart TV and luxuriate in the sheer elegance of the space.
Head through the double doors to the dining room, where you can sit around the table for happy holiday feasts together on those occasions you decide not to dine out. Throw open the French doors in here on warm days. The country-style kitchen/diner also accommodates a table, perhaps for casual meals or to sit at while you are chopping up the local produce you have shopped for in town. Pause here for a glass of wine while dinner roasts in the electric range-style oven. There are two dishwashers to help you clear up after your celebrations and a washing machine for whizzing through any clothing after damp country walks.
Make your way to the sauna to unwind and soothe your muscles after hiking through the Yorkshire Dales or head up the spiral staircase to the family bathroom on the first floor, with a glass of fizz in hand. Run yourself a long hot bubble bath in the free-standing bath up here and soak for as long as you like. In this part of the house, you can also find two beautiful double bedrooms, one of which looks out towards Middleham Castle and has the luxury of an en-suite shower room.
Climb the main staircase to the first floor to lay your head in either the children bunk bed room, the king-size bed or one of the two super-king-size beds. One of these has an en-suite shower room, while the other is especially opulent, featuring a roll-top bath in the room, as well as an en-suite shower room, and taking in views out towards Middleham Castle. Up here, you will find another glorious place in which to relax: a sumptuous, family bathroom, complete with a double-width Jacuzzi bath and separate shower. Create a magical ambience with the feature lights in here, then settle back into the bubbles to savour an evening with your favourite music playing in the background.
Wander along the corridor to find another secret door, this time leading to a staircase up to the second floor. Discover a family room at the top here, furnished with a super-king-size bed and two singles, each with pull-out trundle beds. There is also an en-suite shower room with WC.
Sit outside on sunny days and enjoy your coffee in the delightful, walled courtyard. Relish a few quiet moments here with your book and make plans for the next adventure. There is a shared off-road parking area and additional free parking close by.
