The Esk Valley Railway links to many of the cycling and walking routes in the area including the Cleveland Way, the Esk Valley Walk and the Whitby to Danby cycling route. Slightly further afield, a 21-mile drive, are the bustling market towns of Pickering, with its castle and museum, and Helmsley, which also has a castle and is home to the National Centre for Birds of Prey.
