This spacious cottage sits in a fantastic spot on the edge of the beautiful Howardian Hills, just north of the pretty market town of Easingwold (2.5 miles) which boasts a fantastic choice of pubs, restaurants and cafes. Ideally located for making the most of the wonderful walks and bike trails in this lovely part of North Yorkshire, the cottage is conveniently situated along the Route 65 cycle route. Off-road biking is available at Sutton Bank and Dalby Forest, which is also home to a Go Ape centre. Perfect for exploring the stunning North York Moors, the property is within easy reach of the superb east coast of Yorkshire. Or you can head into the majestic city centre of York (17 miles) to enjoy some retail therapy, visit the ancient York Minster or spend a day at the races. For some unforgettable days out, go to Flamingo Land (21 miles) or Castle Howard (15 miles) – a grand stately home with extensive grounds, fountains, trails and lakes. Foodies should head to Malton (18 miles) which hosts a variety of popular weekend food festivals.

On entering this light and spacious single-level property, head through the side entrance into the handy utility room which makes a useful space for leaving coats and muddy boots at the end of a great day’s exploring. You’ll also find a washing machine, tumble dryer and a wet room here. Exploring this stylishly laid-out retreat further, the elegant kitchen is generously equipped with everything you need to prepare delicious breakfasts, picnics and suppers, including a range-style gas hob, electric oven, decoration-only AGA, American-style fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. Take your homemade meal through into the light-filled dining room at the heart of the house and spend an evening chatting about the day’s events. The beautifully decorated lounge has plenty of comfortable seating perfect whether you want to snuggle up to watch a movie on the Smart TV or curl up with a good book. There’s also a delightful sunroom overlooking the garden, an ideal space for a morning coffee as you get ready for the day ahead. Once it’s time to retire to bed, there’s a delightful choice of three fresh and cosy bedrooms: one king-size, a double and a twin room, each with ample storage space for your belongings. The property is rounded off with a bright and refreshing family bathroom complete with a shower over the bath.

Going back outside, the large wraparound garden offers plenty of space to potter and play or to sit back and enjoy an idyllic spot of al fresco dining. Throw a log under the wood-fired hot tub for a soothing experience at the end of a fabulous day. There is ample off-road parking.

The property nestles in a wonderful location on the edge of the Howardian Hills, with the North York Moors just a few miles away. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty offers glorious landscapes with wide fields and undulating hills, picturesque villages and impressive country houses. The North York Moors provide hundreds of miles of spellbinding walks and bike trails across glorious heather moorlands and ancient woodlands. The pretty Georgian market town of Easingwold (3 miles) has a wide range of friendly pubs and eateries.

Heading south you can explore the historic city of York (18 miles). The jewel in North Yorkshire's crown, York is a favourite amongst even the most seasoned of travellers. This ancient walled city has been the north's spiritual capital for 2,000 years, but that's not to say it is stuck in the past; York's affluent population and its influx of tourist pounds has helped to create a cultural and commercial oasis. History seeps out of every cobbled street, but the crooked old buildings house a fantastic range of contemporary designer shops, cafes, restaurants and bars.

Everywhere in York is easily reachable by foot as this small but perfectly formed city houses most of its main attractions within the city walls. Town planning originating in the Middle Ages means it can take quite some time to get your bearings but finding your way around the labyrinth of warped streets is part of the fun. Make sure you take in York Minster, The Shambles, the Railway Museum and Bettys Tea Room whilst you're there.

If you are looking for outside space in which to relax, you have the choice of a number of parks and gardens, including Dean's Park next to the Minster, the Yorkshire Museum Gardens next to the River Ouse and, slightly further afield, Rowntree Park with its children's playground, tennis courts and bowling green.

The beautiful market town of Helmsley (11.5 miles) is within easy driving distance and is well worth a visit. Head east to find Malton (18 miles), another gorgeous market town offering lots of lovely independent shops and cafes to indulge in.

We really enjoyed our stay at sunnyridge, ideal location for exploring that area . Possible focal point for the lounge could be a wood burner but certainly the heating was amazing in the house so just from an aesthetic angle. All facilities were fabulous bathrooms ,kitchens , showers etc

Sunnyridge is a stunning holiday cottage - so good that we've already booked it for the time next yearI The views from the cottage are beautiful. The location is great, very peaceful but only 5 minutes' drive from busy Easingwold. The cottage is very spacious and comfortable with plenty of room for 6 people. The kitchen is "the best we've ever usedRead more" according to our daughter. The wet room is a huge bonus for anyone with reduced mobility. Everything is very well maintained to a high standard.
