Occupying a beautiful and peaceful location perched on a hillside surrounded by a small woodland, this delightful cottage is a fabulous base for exploring the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Lying on the outskirts of the picturesque market town of Pateley Bridge, the cottage is just half a mile from the town centre where you will find a lovely variety of unique shops, friendly restaurants, quaint tearooms and the oldest sweet shop in England. The nearby River Nidd winds its way through the old town, and there’s an excellent park on the banks of the river. The Nidd Valley offers some wonderful opportunities for keen walkers, cyclists and birdwatchers, or you can head just a few miles west to explore the quaint villages, historic towns and wide expanses of the Yorkshire Dales. Spend a day browsing around the delightful town of Harrogate (15 miles), with its fabulous mix of cafes, art galleries, artisan shops and attractions including the Turkish Baths and the Royal Pump Room. Or head to the pretty village of Grassington (11 miles) – the location for the TV show All Creatures Great and Small.

Stepping into this cosy and romantic cottage you will find a lovingly furnished and tastefully decorated accommodation perfect for families and couples which retains plenty of its original charm and character. From the garden, enter the property by the lower entrance door, leaving all your coats and boots when you return from a wet or muddy walk in the surrounding countryside. Make yourself at home in the charming and spacious lounge, with its lovely rural views of Nidderdale. Put your feet up and be warmed by the wood burner effect electric fire as you sit back on the sofa to watch a favourite movie on the Smart TV. Heading into the beautiful country-style kitchen/diner, you will find the ideal space for rustling up all your favourite family dishes. Featuring an electric oven and hob, a microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher, the light and fully equipped kitchen is perfect for any budding chefs wanting to create a memorable feast. Gather around the farmhouse-style dining table to enjoy your meal, chat about the day and plan the next day’s adventures. As night falls, head upstairs to bed and chose from two lovely relaxing bedrooms, each decorated in soothing autumnal shades, and each with a TV so you can watch a late-night film or have a lazy lie-in. There’s a charming king-size room which has its own en-suite bathroom complete with a shower over the bath, and a delightful zip-and-link super-king-size room which can be made up as a twin on request. This room has a refreshing en-suite shower room.

Wake up in the morning to the sounds of birds singing, and head into the garden with a coffee to listen to the morning chorus. The area is rich in wildlife and you may spot some deer as you dine alfresco on the charming decked area outside. Ample off-street parking is available for two cars.

Pateley Bridge itself is a charming little market town, very typical of this picturesque part of Yorkshire. The main street is peppered with cafes, restaurants, local stores, quality butchers and a wine shop; everything you need to stock up for your stay. You'll also find the self-proclaimed 'Oldest Sweet Shop in England' here dating back to the early 1800s.

Pateley Bridge sits at the heart of the breathtaking Nidderdale landscape, itself an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and immediately adjacent to the gorgeous Yorkshire Dales National Park.

There are plenty of local attractions and stunning natural sights within easy driving distance including the fabulous Brimham Rocks (4 miles) and the famous Three Peaks. Or check out the cathedral town of Ripon which is also well worth a visit and is just 12 miles away, with its regal castle overlooking the town below. The RHS garden at Harlow Carr (16 miles) is a great place to visit for those who love flowers and plants.

Take a spa day or have a massage at the Turkish Baths in the cosmopolitan town of Harrogate (14.5 miles). Time a visit with the Great Yorkshire Show – it is a massive platform for farmers and local craft-makers to showcase their way of life and their produce on a grand scale. Harrogate is best known for its convention centres and it’s an events hub too, so it’s worth seeing what is on their programme.

We really enjoyed staying in this beautiful and well equipped cottage. Its location is good for walking trips, and the village of Pateley Bridge is just a few minutes down the road. The cottage sits amid a tranquil wooded site, and is very quiet and peaceful. We heard owls in the evening, delightful.
