This character cottage has been stylishly renovated to an exceptional standard, providing accommodation for couples, families, and their four-legged friends in the heart of York.

This property is a delightful two-bedroom cottage situated in an enviable position in the heart of York. Tucked away down a quiet street less than 200 metres from the city walls, this chic cottage sleeps up to four people and is the perfect choice for families or couples looking for a city break with easy access to outdoor activities and where dogs are welcome.

The superb location of this home cannot be underestimated. The charming, terraced cottage is less than a mile from York Minster, just half a mile to the city centre with a wealth of shops, bars, and restaurants, yet sitting in a peaceful street away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre.

Step inside this boutique cottage and find stylish decor with a contemporary twist throughout; the property has been wonderfully furnished to bring the 'outside' in. The coordinated colour scheme is warm and there are many carefully selected artworks adorning the walls throughout. The wonderful open-plan living space containing the lounge, dining area and kitchen makes it a great choice for families and friends.

In the cosy and bright lounge, you’ll find plush comfortable chairs to curl up on at the end of a busy day exploring, a sofa bed and a Smart TV discreetly positioned in case you want to chat or play card or board games rather than watch a movie. This inviting space is the heart of the home and where you can plan the next day’s adventures.

The large dining area has double doors opening to the outside, flooding the room with natural light. Picture yourself with your family or friends enjoying extended meals together at the wooden dining table in this uniquely designed space that adds a touch of luxury to your stay. The kitchen is amazing too with access to the outside area and an induction hob, fridge/freezer and everything else you need to prepare a memorable meal and dine together in style.

The property also boasts two spacious bedrooms which come with double beds, perfect for you to enjoy a lazy morning and breakfast in bed. On the first floor, is one bedroom and an elegant contemporary bathroom with a shower over the bath. There is also a cosy study area where you can relax and read a book in peace or catch up on some emails. Climb up the cottage-style stairs to the second floor and you’ll find a characterful double bedroom with low, sloping ceilings and lovely views over the pretty city of York from the Velux windows, which flood the room with natural light.

Outside this pretty cottage, there is a small private walled courtyard with a seating area and BBQ. It is the ideal space to sit out in fine weather and enjoy a glass of wine at the end of the day.

  • 2 bedrooms - 2 doubles
  • 1 bathroom - 1 shower over the bath and WC
  • Induction hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, Nespresso coffee machine
  • Welcome pack
  • Travel cot and highchair available
  • Smart TV with Netflix in the lounge
  • Enclosed rear courtyard with outdoor furniture and charcoal BBQ
  • On-street parking permit provided for one car
  • The City Centre with shops, pubs and restaurants is a short walk away
  • Please note there are low, sloping ceilings in the second-floor bedroom and that due to the age of the property stairs are steep and narrow, there is also a step up and down to access the bathroom
  • This property will be decorated for Christmas
  • Arrival: 15:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £200 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £25. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

As mentioned, this property’s location is spot on. Set down a quiet street, it is less than 400 metres from the River Ouse and the Ouse Bridge that leads directly into the heart of this amazing compact city where all the main attractions are less than a mile walk away.

The jewel in North Yorkshire's crown, we think York is one of the best short break destinations in England and is a favourite amongst even the most seasoned of travellers. This ancient walled city has been the north's spiritual capital for 2,000 years, but that's not to say it is stuck in the past; York's affluent population and its influx of tourist pounds have helped to create a cultural and commercial oasis. History seeps out of every cobbled street, but the crooked old buildings house a fantastic range of contemporary designer shops, cafes, restaurants and bars.

Everywhere in York is easily reachable by foot as this small but perfectly formed city houses most of its main attractions within the city walls. Middle Ages' town planning means it can take quite some time to get your bearings but finding your way around the labyrinth of warped streets is part of the fun. Make sure you take in York Minster, The Shambles, the National Railway Museum and Bettys tearoom whilst you're there.

If you are looking for outside space in which to relax, you have the choice of a number of parks and gardens, including Dean's Park next to the Minster, the Yorkshire Museum Gardens next to the River Ouse and, slightly further afield, Rowntree Park with its children's playground, tennis courts and bowling green.

And, what's more, it really is a year-round location. Summer days can be spent lounging in one of the gorgeous parks and, in the autumn, York comes alive with shop windows sparkling in the dusky light. Its central location also makes a great base from which to explore the rest of glorious Yorkshire, with the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and Yorkshire coastline all within easy reach for beautiful walks and adventurous days out for you and your four-legged friends.

If walking or cycling is your thing, there are lots of beautiful paths and routes in the area. If you fancy serious hiking, the North York Moors (25 miles) landscape offers some of the best trails in the country. There are walking trails at Castle Howard (14 miles) and Terrington (17 miles) both located in the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding National Beauty.

The beautiful market town of Helmsley (24.5 miles) is within easy driving distance and is well worth a visit. Head 18 miles east to find Malton, another gorgeous market town offering lots of lovely independent shops and cafes to indulge in, or the charming market town of Easingwold is a great option at 13 miles from the city.
