Escape to the country in this quintessential Yorkshire stone cottage. With a pretty flower-filled garden, open fire and an abundance of walks from the doorstep, it’s the perfect pet-friendly rural retreat for a couple, small family or group of keen ramblers.

Just 5 miles from Pateley Bridge, the peaceful village of Ramsgill is set in breathtaking Nidderdale, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Among the cluster of cottages there, this charming semi-detached epitomises country living, with a welcoming lounge where you can unwind beneath a traditional beamed ceiling and curl up before the open fire with a book or box set on the Smart TV.

The heart of every home, the kitchen here has stylish shaker-style units and oak worktops, and is fully equipped for a fuss-free stay; its cupboards are stocked with all the chef’s essentials. Enjoy a home-cooked meal at the dining table and you can look out onto the pretty cottage garden where bird feeders attract feathered guests.

A rear entrance is especially useful after walks in the surrounding countryside, giving you access to a utility room where you can hang coats to dry and deposit wet or muddy clothes direct into the washing machine. For ultra-convenience, there’s a freezer and downstairs WC too.

When it's time to head upstairs to bed, three traditionally styled bedrooms – a double and two singles – offer supreme flexibility and share the use of an attractive shower room with a WC.

Two wonderful outdoor spaces offer a choice of venue for food, drinks and taking in the views. The front garden is busy with local birds and has a well-positioned bench where you can sit quietly and watch their antics, or you could admire the hills and moorland from the enclosed private patio to the rear of the cottage.

  • 3 bedrooms - 1 double, 2 singles
  • 1 bathroom - shower and WC, downstairs WC

Ramsgill is a delightful base from which to explore all the Dales’ prime destinations, with Brimham Rocks and Stump Cross Caverns both 9 miles away. Pateley Bridge (5 miles) is a charming little market town at the heart of the Nidderdale landscape, itself an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and immediately adjacent to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Typical of this part of Yorkshire, the town’s main street is peppered with cafes, restaurants, local stores, quality butchers and a wine shop – everything you need to stock up for your stay. You'll also find the self-proclaimed 'Oldest Sweet Shop in England' here, dating back to the early 1800s.

No holiday would be complete without venturing further afield for a day out in Harrogate (20 miles), an elegant spa town bursting at the seams with antique shops, cafes, independent boutiques, restaurants and tea rooms. On the edge of town, the RHS garden at Harlow Carr is a must-see if you love flowers and plants.

Alternatively, drive across the Nidderdale AONB to check out the cathedral town of Ripon, which is just 17 miles away. En route is Fountains Abbey and the gorgeous Studley Royal Water Garden – one of the National Trust's most visited locations – where you can explore the spectacular ruins of a 12th-century Cistercian abbey and grounds that are home to an Elizabethan Mansion, a medieval deer park and some of the most romantic vistas in the country.

There are spectacular waterside views, too, at the Gouthwaite Reservoir which is just a couple of miles from your holiday cottage. If you want a walk, follow the circular trail around the water – at around six miles it’s generally considered a route that all ages can enjoy.

Beautiful location with loads of lovely towns, villages and pubs. . The cottage really needs a good clean as it was very dusty in parts with loads of cobwebs. The dishwasher only ran cold but we reported this during our stay. Still not working at the end though. Generally though a nice cottage to stay in. Be aware that there is a chap right next doRead moreor who makes loads of stuff with wood using the associated power tools. It didnt really bother us. PS needs some new pans. Pretty bad! Hide

Fabulous holiday in a beautiful location, we had everything we needed in the cottage, very cosy and particularly loved watching the birds in the mornings and evenings (better than watching TV). Would highly recommend.

The cottage is cosy and comfortable. The location is great with plenty of walks or cycling from the door and its only 10 mins into Pateley Bridge. Its worth filling the bird feeders with the seed provided as it really brings in the local feathered friends.

This is a lovely cosy cottage in a beautiful location. The owner is quite obviously a nature lover as demonstrated by the style of interior decor.. Very generous to supply logs and coal for fire. Certainly somewhere we would consider returning to. Thank You.

Great for walks and mtb rides. Waterfalls in the national park were in full flow so much of the attraction is weather dependent.
