Enjoying a superb location within Whitby, a stylish apartment of this Victorian townhouse, is an excellent base from which to explore the Yorkshire coastline.

Steeped in style and elegance, you’re certain to feel immersed in a state of luxury the moment you enter this townhouse apartment. The two-bedroom accommodation choice offers a remarkable base for four guests to really soak up the wonders of Whitby, whether it be admiring the majestic view from atop 199 steps, spending a lazy day lounging on the sand or booking into an excellent seafood restaurant where you’ll be served the freshest catch of the day.

Although entirely modern and up-to-date inside, this ground-floor apartment is to be found in a traditional Victorian townhouse meaning it benefits from high ceilings and excellent design features including a handsome bay window. Ascend the short flight of external steps and let yourself in.

You’re first greeted by the overall tones and colour palette of the place when you step into the open-plan living space. Favouring earthy tones and bright splashes throughout, the décor of this single-storey place has been appointed in a calming neutral style which creates an instantly authentic atmosphere.

Made up of a lounge, kitchen and dining space, this open-plan living area is bathed in sunlight thanks to the bay window on one wall. From here you can gaze out and admire the view, even viewing as far as Whitby Abbey when conditions are fine. For this reason, the sociable circular dining table has been conveniently placed by the window, offering you a fantastic spot to start the day with a delicious breakfast.

Said breakfast can’t come to fruition without the help of an extremely well-equipped kitchen. Modern fixtures and fittings have been installed to create a contemporary place to cook, complete with a breakfast bar and stools offering an easy-going place to sit down and enjoy a snack. With clean lines and modern appliances, you’ll have no issue rustling up restaurant-worthy dishes on those evenings when you chose to stay in.

Thoughtfully positioned around a Smart TV, sofas and armchairs make up the lounge section of this property to complete the communal space. You can claim the armchair or curl up on the sofa as the night draws in, switching on the TV to enjoy a film or binge the latest box set.

Having worn yourselves out with a day of adventure and activity, the bed is sure to call your name. Both bedrooms in this property have been decorated to an extremely high standard. Pairing a stylish design with comfortable touches, the rooms each feature soft bedding, plush mattresses and on-trend furnishings.

The master bedroom is a delightful double. Along with a bed that’s simply waiting to be sunk into, the room has been equipped with a dresser for unpacking your finery throughout your stay.

Next door you’ll find a twin bedroom, equally as comfortable with the addition of a clothes rail for hanging some pieces up. This versatile bedroom features a zip-and-link bed which can be converted into a super-king-size on request. This makes the overall property an excellent choice for two couples holidaying together.

The final room in the house, a shared bathroom, matches the clean and contemporary styling of the kitchen. Whether your self-care routine involves jumping in the shower or sinking into a deep, hot bath, this bathroom provides a comfortable place to do so.

Perfect for leaving the car behind, this property sits in a prime location for wandering out and exploring Whitby on foot. Discover everything you may need within a half-mile walk, including the mighty Abbey, the beach and the train station for connecting you to other vibrant North York Moors destinations.

Whitby's narrow twisting yards evolved over a thousand years ago to provide protection from Viking raiders and to help Whitby's smugglers evade the Government revenue men and tax collectors. They're a unique and much-loved design to this part of the world. Be prepared as you walk under the arched alleyway into the Rose and Crown Yard to gain a real sense of the authentic maritime history of this ancient sea town. It is one of the oldest, narrowest and most twisting of Whitby's gothic yards.

Probably the most visited and much-loved of Yorkshire's seaside resorts, Whitby is an idyllic location for a holiday. With its seaside heritage, excellent restaurants, independent shops and host of bars and cafes along its medieval streets, it has so much to offer the discerning holidaymaker. Playing host throughout history to Romans, Saxons, Celts and Danes amongst others, the town's rich heritage is immediately obvious. Straddling the River Esk and dominated by the 13th-century ruins of St Hilda's Abbey on the East Cliff, Whitby's crooked cobbled streets and picturesque harbour have been a magnet for artists and tourists alike for centuries. Providing the backdrop for some of Lewis Carroll's work, it was also famously the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Whitby is set on the beautiful North Yorkshire coastline; a heady mix of rugged cliff tops, peaceful bays and pretty fishing villages. With long sandy beaches and all the traditional seaside trimmings of yesteryear, you can indulge in a classic English seaside holiday. That's not to say it's stuck in the past; in fact, Yorkshire's coastal villages and towns combine the traditional with the contemporary effortlessly, with trinket shops and tearooms sitting alongside up-market restaurants and champagne bars.

Nearby Robin Hood's Bay (5.5 miles) is one of the most popular coastal locations in Yorkshire, or the UK for that matter. The village is a maze of cobbled streets and higgledy-piggledy houses which seem to tumble down towards the sea. Sandsend is 3 miles away, a gorgeous little seaside village which is well worth a visit during your stay. With its handsome promenade, long stretch of beach, several excellent eating options and a world-class day spa, you could happily spend your whole holiday here. Staithes and Runswick Bay are also all under 10 miles away, each with their own unique charm.

Head inland from Whitby and you can be in the heart of the North York Moors within minutes. Take a tour of the impossibly pretty towns and villages in the area, including Egton, Danby, Castleton, Rosedale. Or head up on the high moorland of Castleton Rigg; we guarantee on a clear day it will take your breath away.

Everything about this apartment was perfect, it was spotless and really well laid out, with all the facilities we could need. The location is great, situated on the quieter side of the harbour and just a few minutes walk to the promenade and beach, or into Whitby town itself. You even get a great view of the Abbey from the dining table! We were madRead moree to feel very welcome and we hope to come back for an even longer break next year (if it's not completely booked up!). Hide
