Exceptional comfort is assured for two guests staying in this stunning single-storey cottage. Situated in the vibrant village of Leppington, you’re well-positioned for exploring the magical beauty spots of the Howardian Hills, the North York Moors and the Yorkshire coastline throughout your time here. Whilst the moors and hills that make up the surrounding countryside offer a world of outdoor adventure, the town of Pickering and the city of York are also close by, perfect for those guests who prefer a more cosmopolitan itinerary of holiday activities.

Regardless of the activities that bring you to this vibrant and varied area, you’ll no doubt adore the seemingly endless countryside views and peaceful tranquillity that surrounds this unique holiday home. The property is adjacent to the owner’s home, sharing a gravel drive to access the accommodation. Despite having neighbours at close quarters, you can rest assured that privacy is guaranteed, and you can benefit from having the hosts close by should you need anything.

This converted barn property has been clearly decorated to a high standard, complete with freshly painted white walls and unique cane accents that lend the space a modern-boho ambience.

As you enter the property you’re greeted by a roomy lounge-come-dining room, complete with an L-shaped layout and an abundance of space to call your own. This room has been thoughtfully equipped with a Bluetooth speaker, so feel free to connect your devices and fill the space with your favourite sounds. The dining table has been lovingly set for two guests, perfect for catching up on the day’s activities over a delectable evening meal.

Said meal is best prepared in the adjacent kitchen, a compact room with more than enough countertop space for rustling up something good. Here, traditional cabinets and a handsome Belfast sink are paired with modern appliances to create an entirely pleasing space to cook. You’ll even find a generously packed welcome hamper to tuck into on arrival.

Stepping back into the main living space leads to an extremely comfortable lounge, complete with a cushy L-shaped sofa and an electric armchair – more than enough space for two to put their feet up. These seating solutions are positioned around a Smart TV with access to plenty of streaming platforms, so be sure to come prepped with a list of films or TV shows that you’ve recently been itching to watch. When visiting through colder months you can switch on the wood burner effect electric fire to allow a warm glow to fill the space.

After an evening filled with good food and great entertainment, head on into the bedroom. A sliding door separates the main living space and the inviting king-size bedroom. Jump up onto the cushy mattress and sink into a plush bed of fresh linens, ready to achieve a satisfying night of restful sleep.

Completing the inside offering of the accommodation is a shower room, just next door to the bedroom. This room has been thoughtfully fitted with a large shower unit and a contemporary WC and basin.

In the summer, feel free to begin and end each day with relaxing time spent in the wonderful outdoor space. Immediately outside the property, you’ll find a decked area with a bistro table for two. This is an excellent spot to soak up that fresh Northern air and admire the surrounding hills, perhaps with a coffee first thing in the morning or with your evening meal at tea time. There’s also a hot tub right here on the decking. Sink into the bubbly water as night falls and stare into the dark skies up above.

Those eager to get to know North Yorkshire better will be delighted with a stay right here. The quiet village of Leppington boasts a central position in the wonderful Yorkshire countryside, with an abundance of towns and spots for an outdoor adventure within easy reach. Within 12 miles you’ll find yourself in the Howardian Hills AONB, or perhaps embarking on a rewarding walk from the town of Malton. Malton itself is known as Yorkshire’s food capitol, complete with artisan food shops and revered restaurants, so be sure to work up an appetite before moseying around here.

Just 17 miles away, the vibrant and attractive market town of Pickering is perfect for a relaxing wander around its pretty houses, shops and tearooms. Grand Georgian architecture stands alongside cosy traditional cottages to create a picture-postcard location with several excellent restaurants, pubs and cafes in the town. The wonderful North York Moors Railway starts in Pickering, where you can catch a steam train to Whitby and back again through some of the most picturesque countryside in Yorkshire.

Beyond Pickering lies the awe-inspiring North York Moors, a landscape of gently rolling hills of heather, ancient woodland and lazy rivers winding through lush green valleys. If you want to get away from it all, take a trip to the top of the high central moorlands, which is also a great option if walking is your thing.

In addition to Pickering, there are many well-heeled towns and villages dotted about the moors, where honey-coloured sandstone buildings lend a warm contrast to the deep purple and green of the surrounding hills. The beautiful market town of Helmsley is 23 miles away and is well worth a visit for its great restaurants, cafes and delis. If you fancy a little pampering, you'll also find a fantastic day spa here.

The charming town of Kirkbymoorside is 22 miles away, with its treasure trove of art and antique shops, tearooms, Ryedale Folk Museum and a great market on Wednesdays. There is a theme park and zoo at Flamingo Land, 16.5 miles away, and Eden Camp, a fascinating modern history museum, is just 11 miles away. You're also close to Castle Howard and York (both less than 14 miles) and the North Yorkshire coast, so you'll have lots of choice for day trips.

The cottage was absolutely fantastic, it was warm, the facilities were top notch and the hot tub was gorgeous! It's in travelling distance to a lot of places and there were decent pubs around too. Highlight of the holiday was being sat in the hot tub looking at the stars with no artificial light around. Gorgeous will come back for sure!

Lovely cosy cottage. Very clean and comfortable, great sofa. Also good to have a big TV. Location very convenient for visiting many local areas including York but also close to the coast. We chose the cottage for its location and not the hot tub which we didn't use, but I am sure many people would love it.
