Discover elegance and serenity in this cosy barn-conversion cottage, a stunning choice of holiday accommodation in the North Yorkshire countryside. With sumptuous furnishings, the homely addition of a wood burner and your own private hot tub, you’re free to enjoy some undisturbed time with a loved one in this romantic retreat for two.

Offering a fantastic base for any dog-loving couple, the accommodation welcomes you to bring along one canine companion to stay alongside you. You’ll find that the owners have lovingly provided a host of doggy treats and essentials, helping you to pack lightly as you prepare for your long-awaited getaway.

Regardless of whether you’re travelling with or without a dog, this same love and attention have gone into the generous welcome pack that’s also provided by the owners. After all, you’ll want nothing more than a cup of tea and a locally sourced snack to greet you after a long trip.

As you step inside, you’ll find your first port of call is an open-plan living space, complete with a fantastic feature wall made up of maps of the local area. Neutral tone fixtures and fittings perfectly contrast the vibrant hue of the sofa in this marvellous space, a real trend-led room for two to spend an evening relaxing in.

The kitchen space is completely versatile with quality appliances, a handsome Belfast sink and a quartz breakfast bar which makes up the property’s dining space. You’ll find two stylish stools tucked neatly underneath this breakfast bar, the perfect spot for an easy-going breakfast or a delicious evening meal for two. Along with all of the appliances you’d expect in a luxury holiday home, this kitchen has also been equipped with a wine cooler and a Nespresso machine to help elevate your stay.

The cosy lounge area sits right next to the kitchen. This cute spot boasts a loveseat sofa with a wood burner and Smart TV just opposite. Throw a log or two onto the fire to create the warmest and most welcoming ambience through the winter months. Along with the Smart TV with plenty of streaming services accessible, this room has been equipped with a quality Bluetooth speaker which allows you to link up and fill the space with your favourite sounds.

A single flight of stairs leads on up to the single bedroom, a marvellous king-size with authentic wooden beams at the vaulted ceiling. Laid out with antique-style furnishings in a deep patina to match the original beams above, this bedroom is a delightful stylish place to spend each night. The bedroom is complete with a Smart TV for lazy movie nights in bed, and a spacious area with a dressing table, wardrobe and floor-length mirror to give you an excellent space in which to get ready.

A door situated in this dressing space leads into the property’s bathroom. Here you’ll find a lovely shower and some faux trailing plants which lend the space a botanical aesthetic.

Completing the accommodation offering is a private courtyard with a side access gate. You can really make the most of good weather when staying here, bringing snacks, drinks or even a full evening meal out into this alfresco space. The courtyard is fully paved and features comfortable rattan furniture. There’s even a hot tub in which you can sit and let aching muscles be soothed after a long day of walking excursions.

The owner’s also welcome you to make full use of the shared paddock that sits on the grounds of the property. Complete with picnic benches and plenty of space for pets to roam, this unique paddock presents you with an abundance of outdoor space without having to travel too far from home. The paddock also presents direct access to an old disused railway line. Follow the route to discover a pretty walk around the surrounding Brompton-on-Swale scenery.

Despite its quiet and calm village location, this Brompton-on-Swale property is located just 3.5 miles from the ever-popular tourist destination of Richmond. This charming market town sits on the borders of Wensleydale and Swaledale. It boasts an 11th-century castle, fine Georgian architecture, a historic Georgian theatre and a large cobbled market square as some of its many attractions. Stroll into town for a cup of Yorkshire tea at one of the many tearooms there or pop over for dinner at one of the excellent restaurants.

The gorgeous River Swale runs through the town and, across the river - less than a mile - are the River Swale Waterfalls. You can walk in either direction along the river and deep into the countryside without having to go anywhere near the car. We also recommend exploring the restored former Richmond Railway Station which has lots to entertain young and old including a small cinema, cafe/restaurant, gallery, microbrewery and artisan bakery.

Richmond is also known as 'The Gateway to the Dales' so expect stunning Dales scenery within minutes of leaving the town. Peppering this glorious countryside are countless attractive little towns and villages and, if you enjoy a bit of surreal entertainment, how about a visit to the quite brilliant Forbidden Corner, an attraction full of statues and hidden surprises, 16 miles away near Middleham.

The historic village of Easby, home to Easby Abbey is just 2.5 miles away. Set on the banks of the River Swale, the abbey is the perfect spot for a picnic in the summer months. There are lots of other breathtaking historic sites to explore in the Dales, including the stunning Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden, 25.5 miles, a World Heritage Site.

This is a superb area for walkers and cyclists with many routes from the doorstep or just a short distance away, including Alfred Wainwright’s famous Coast to Coast Walk which passes close by. And with York, Harrogate and the North York Moors all within easy striking distance (under an hour’s drive on a clear run) you have lots of choices for day trips!
