Benefiting from a wealth of both indoor and outdoor space, this lodge-style property offers a truly relaxing break for all the family in the Yorkshire countryside. Suited to guests of all ages, children will love spotting the farmyard animals and horses whilst staying on this working equestrian farm and adults will adore the sense of peace and tranquillity that comes with a stay in this secluded location. You’re even welcome to bring along two dogs to stay with you, the perfect finishing touch to a long-awaited family getaway.

On arrival at the property, take a second to stop and breathe in that fresh Yorkshire air, all whilst admiring the 360-degree countryside views that surround the accommodation. Having suitably grounded yourself, step inside and make yourselves at home.

The heart of this sociable house is its open-plan living space, complete with high ceilings, original beams and French doors that flood this space with light. Both patio doors and double-aspect windows ensure that you’ve always got a view of the countryside around you.

At one side of the room, you’ll find an extremely spacious kitchen with an abundance of countertop space, a kitchen island with stools underneath and an additional breakfast bar with more high seating. Laid out with families in mind, the kitchen has been equipped with a contemporary oven, an American-style fridge/freezer, that all-important dishwasher and a coffee machine to get parents energised for the day.

Whilst you’ve got the two easy-going seating areas right here, ideal for breakfast or snack times, you’ll also find a more formal dining table at the centre of the room. This stylish dining table is a six-seater with trendy seats positioned all around, the perfect place to sit and raise a glass in celebration of your holiday together.

Once dinner is done and night begins to draw in, retire to the lounge for a full evening of entertainment and excellent chat. Decorated with plush carpets, deep-seated sofas, an armchair, and even an uber-comfortable bed for your dog, there’s certainly more than enough space for every guest to find somewhere to put their feet up. This comfortable furniture selection has been positioned around a warming wood burner-effect electric fire and a Smart TV, the cosiest spot to sit and watch a film or binge a box set.

The first two bedrooms are located down here on the ground floor, alongside a family bathroom with all of the required amenities. Fresh white walls, wooden furnishings and fresh linens add to the clean and calm ambience of all three bedrooms. The largest of the downstairs bedrooms, a spacious king-size, benefits from its own en-suite shower room, ideal for those eager to enjoy a little bit of extra privacy. The second bedroom down here is a lovely twin with two single beds.

A handful of stairs lead up and into the final bedroom. Situated underneath handsome beams and boasting its own dressing table, this king-size bedroom offers a lovely space in which to get ready and drift off each evening. A final en-suite shower room is also accessible right here.

Having enjoyed the mighty views from indoors, you can step outside and soak up the atmosphere from your own private garden space. A patio area with gravel is fully furnished with outdoor seating to offer you a place for alfresco dining. This is adjacent to an ample amount of lawn space, perfect for children or pets to play in.

  • 3 bedrooms – 2 king-size and 1 twin
  • 3 bathrooms – 1 bathroom with shower over bath and WC, 1 en-suite bathroom with shower over bath and WC, and 1 en-suite shower room with WC

The West Yorkshire village of Denby Dale offers a picture-perfect base for any rural stay, complete with the River Dearne running through and the pretty sights of the village viaduct. Wander into the attractive village centre to frequent the local pubs and tearooms.

Take a trip to nearby Clayton West (4 miles) to board the ever-popular Kirklees Light Railway. Also known as Yorkshire's Great Little Steam Train, this lovely gauge railway offers you a 50-minute return journey and the chance to see some of the wonderful sights of the Dearne Valley.

Visitors with younger guests will love spending time at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park (7 miles), an open-air gallery with works by some amazing contemporary sculptors, or a fascinating afternoon at the National Coal Mining Museum (7.5 miles) where you can journey deep underground to discover England’s rich history with coal. Another extremely popular destination for those with kids is Cannon Hall Farm (5 miles), an award-winning attraction with farm animals, a large children’s play area and a farmshop for picking up some local produce.

Lovers of Last of the Summer Wine will recognise one of the village’s neighbouring towns all too well. Holmfirth (5.5 miles) is a vibrant West Yorkshire town at the heart of the Holme Valley, much-loved by many and visited time and time again. There are all manner of things to do when visiting the town, including a boozy stop-off at the local vineyard.

Not too far from the commanding Peak District National Park, Holmfirth also provides an excellent base for some walking or cycling excursions. Discover the Kirklees Way (8 miles), a mighty 73-mile route that takes in some of the dramatic moorlands and far-reaching landscapes of the Colne and Holme valleys.

From here you can also embark on a trip along the Pennine Way (11.5 miles), picking out a section of the waymarked pathway and discovering the beauty of the Peak District including the sights of Wessenden Reservoir and the Black Hill (12 miles).

Those eager to splash some cash in designer shops and independent boutiques will find three vibrant cities within easy reach. Huddersfield (9 miles), Leeds (20 miles) and Manchester (27.5 miles) each present plenty of shopping opportunities, as well as a vibrant nightlife with bars, restaurants, theatres and music venues for exciting afternoons or thrilling evenings out.

We had a lovely stay in Denby Lodge with the family. Such a fabulous outlook and walks on the doorstep. Everything was clean and fresh and all the cupboards had everything you could think of. My cousins daughter came to visit and absolutely loved the toy cupboard. So many different places to visit nearby and some great pubs.

Lovely stay at a VERY well equipped house. It was spotlessly clean cosy. As others have said, the welcome pack was fantastic and our dogs had to take turns on the amazing dog bed. Lots of walks straight from the door. The National Coal Mining Museum is well worth a visit, book in advance if you would like a tour underground.
