Embrace coastal life and stay in this fabulous property, just a short walk away from the heart of Whitby. Sleeping eight guests, your entire party will soon be having adventures across the North York Moors National Park followed by peaceful evenings feasting on fish and chips by the harbour. Whitby is a town that offers something a little different from your ‘typical’ coastal resort. The ruins of Whitby Abbey stand dominantly on the clifftop and can be reached on foot by climbing the 199 steps from the old town.

Set back from the hustle and bustle of the main town, this contemporary property is immaculately styled and bursting with home comforts. Embrace a sense of breezy beach-style living from the moment you step inside to discover chic interiors characterised by neutral decor, quirky accessories and splashes of bold colour. Glimpses of the moors in the distance can be seen from your own private balcony, and you may even catch a peek of the abbey as you sip your morning coffee.

Step through the cheerful yellow-brick exterior into a bright hallway that has plenty of space for sandy shoes, walking boots and coats. With the wooden flooring underfoot, make your way into the kitchen and dining area ready to transform your locally sourced produce into a feast fit for the entire family. There is an electric hob/oven/grill, a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, and a microwave for all your culinary and laundry needs, but coffee lovers will particularly appreciate the handy Nespresso Krups coffee machine for that first coffee of the day.

Light candles and set the family-sized table for mealtimes, gathering around the table for hearty breakfasts of bacon and eggs whilst you plan the day ahead. Later, after dinner, the table doubles as a useful space to sip drinks and play board games. Challenge your loved ones to a few rounds of cards, the winner gets to skip loading the dishwasher!

Double doors lead through to the lounge, a sanctuary with a large Smart TV and sound bar framed by cascading plants, and a quirky feature wall that gives a definite ‘boho chic’ vibe. Snuggle down into the sofas and enjoy a movie night, passing around a bowl of buttery popcorn as you lose yourself in the story. On warm evenings, throw open the doors for an al fresco vibe and a spot of stargazing with a mug of hot chocolate clasped in your hands.

When it is time to turn in, climb the stairs to the first floor and take your pick of the bedrooms. There are four in total, each one equipped with ample storage for clothing. The king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower room and WC also boasts a balcony, a sheer treat for watching the sunset. Next, the generous bathroom is a must for a long soak after a long day of exploring, and there is a second king-size bedroom dressed with crisp sheets. Another staircase reveals the final two bedrooms, both featuring cosy twin beds that are ideal for adults and children alike. Completing the property is a ground-floor WC.

Outside, your private garden is safely enclosed so your two accompanying hounds can play safely with the children on the lawn. Watch them as they burn their energy with garden games from the vantage point of the sun loungers, basking in the warm weather during the summer months. When everyone grows weary, dine alfresco around the table and toast to your Yorkshire getaway.

Whitby is a great location for ensuring every member of your large party is kept happy from start to finish. Those who enjoy spending time on the beach can choose between smaller Tate Hill and larger West Cliff, where there is a children’s paddling pool and traditional seaside attractions. Those with a love of history will enjoy wandering the streets of the town and climbing the 199 steps up to the striking ruins of Whitby Abbey, which famously appeared in the Victorian Gothic horror novel Dracula. From Whitby, take your party out to picturesque Robin Hood’s Bay, 6 miles away, to explore the charming village, splash about in rock pools on the beach and walk out along the coast to take in the scenic views. Head 8.5 miles out into the North York Moors to take your friends and family on a circular, 5-mile walk through the beautiful Esk Valley from Glaisdale or Egton Bridge. You can always take a train along the Esk Valley Railway from Whitby and hop off at either Glaisdale or Egton Bridge to make the group excursion even more exciting.

We had a wonderful stay at Dairy Cottage. The location is absolutely perfect for walking into town, to the beach and to the local park. All of the bedrooms were comfortable, spacious and decorated beautifully (as was the rest of the house). The garden was very secure which was perfect for our young family. We would happily stay there again.

We had a lovely holiday at Dairy Cottage. The house was very well equipped and had everything we needed. There were plenty of hooks and rubbish bins - things that are often lacking in holiday homes - and the house was comfortable and the garden secure for our dogs. Excellently situated, we left the car behind most days and walked where we wanted toRead more go. We had a really lovely meal at Sneaton Castle, a 5 minute walk up the road. Owner was friendly & helpful. Would definitely return to Whitby. Hide

A beautifully appointed, spacious house in a nice quiet location, not too far from Whitby town centre or the nearest (dog friendly) beach and it's within walking distance of a supermarket and a pub/restaurant. There is parking for 2 cars on the drive but also room for another car to park on the road in front of the property. The house itself is verRead morey comfortable and it's even possible to see Whitby Abbey from the top floor bedroom. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dairy cottage. Hide
