Situated in a deliciously secluded location, this detached barn sleeps six and is a charming place full of Yorkshire character. Based just 4 miles from the North York Moors, you are in a wonderful setting for adventures galore with family and friends. Whether you are tempted by the independent shops and a weekly market of Kirkbymoorside (3.5 miles) or captivated by Helmsley’s stunning castle and Rievaulx Abbey (6.5 miles), you’ll find plenty to surprise and delight your entire party.

This thoughtfully furnished stone-built barn is situated beside the owners' grounds and is surrounded by peaceful farmland. Follow the winding pathway to your retreat, stepping through to find stunning interiors that effortlessly blend period features with contemporary style and convenience. Hinting at its former barn heritage, the vaulted ceilings are crisscrossed with timber beams, and the exposed brickwork and stone add a sense of old-world charm to the muted decor and sleek furniture. Your feet will feel the warmth of underfloor heating as you pad through the hallway, casting aside your coats and shoes in the handy nooks provided for outerwear storage.

A delightful, social open-plan living area forms the heart of the home, a place where you will spend most of your time feasting, chatting, and entertaining. First, you have the kitchen, generously equipped with every essential and more, including a wine cooler to chill your bottle of fizz. Perch on a bar stool whilst the chef of the group creates a delicious home-cooked dinner using the induction electric hob, oven, fridge/freezer and combination microwave. There’s also a dishwasher and a washer/dryer which will prove very handy.

The large dining table comfortably fits everyone around for mealtimes with views towards the garden and the fields beyond. Open the wall-to-wall sliding doors on summer nights to reveal the patio, extending your space and making it excellent for celebrating in style. After dinner, wind down on the comfortable sofas and choose a film to watch on the 65 Smart TV or connect your music to the soundbar.

When it's time to retire for the night, venture down the hallway to one of the three bedrooms, all with private en-suite facilities. Each room features a super-king-sized zip-and-link bed (which can be twins on request) and is individually and beautifully styled. Each room has a door leading to the patio, where you can sit on a bench and enjoy a quiet morning brew. There is also a separate WC.

Enjoy the views from the large garden and patio and enjoy your al fresco meal at the dining table outside.  The garden has been thoughtfully landscaped with lots of floral interest all year round. You can also take a short stroll to see the on-site ponies and alpacas.

  • 3 bedrooms – 3 zip-and-link super-king-size (can be made up as twins on request)

The bustling town of Helmsley is incredibly proud of its reputation as being the only market town set in the romantic wilderness of the North York Moors. The quintessential streets are peppered with family-owned produce shops, independent boutiques and an abundance of art galleries, and you are sure to experience Yorkshire hospitality at its finest when you pause to sample the taste-bud-tantalising local fare. Pay a visit to one of its top attractions; the National Centre for Birds of Prey, Helmsley Castle, the Arts Centre and the Walled Gardens are just a few options, and beyond the town are a plethora of walking trails and cycle paths waiting to be discovered. Wet your whistle after your adventures with a delicious pint of handcrafted beer created in the town’s very own brewery.

A short 3.5-mile drive will bring you to Kirkbymoorside, a pretty town that has much to offer including a gallery, antique shops, tearooms, a deli, a wine shop and a butcher. There's also a great market on Wednesdays. From here, you can move on to the vibrant and attractive Yorkshire market town of Pickering (10.5 miles) which also has an abundance of good restaurants, tearooms and independent shops.

A landscape like no other, the North York Moors is a place of gently rolling hills of heather, ancient woodlands and lazy rivers winding through lush green valleys. If you want to get away from it all, take a trip to the top of the high central moorlands. The famous Blakey Ridge affords some of the best views in the country and, if walking is your thing, you are surrounded by some truly stunning routes. There are trails in every direction and the countryside is just breathtaking. See if you can discover one of the several waterfalls in the area including Mallyan Spout, Falling Foss and Thomason Foss.

Also nearby are miles of empty country roads, endless off-road tracks and the Dalby Forest Mountain Bike Trail Centre with graded routes to suit all abilities from novices to adrenaline junkies. The 'Moor to Sea Cycle Network' connects Scarborough, Whitby, Dalby Forest, Pickering and Great Ayton in a stunning series of moorland, forest and coastal loops. There are around 150 miles to explore, through the very heart of the North York Moors National Park.

Goathland (24 miles) is a stunning moorland village famous as the location for the TV series Heartbeat. There are a handful of gorgeous little tea rooms, sweet village shops where time stands still, a post office and several hotels and pubs – all offering good food and all within a 500-metre walk from the cottage. The train station at Goathland is also well known as it was featured as Hogsmeade Station in the popular Harry Potter films. Today, this beautifully preserved heritage station is part of the North York Moors Railway line from Whitby to Pickering. You can hop on a steam train here throughout the year and enjoy a traditional ride through some truly stunning scenery.

You’ll also be within touring distance of the North Yorkshire coast, with the gothic town of Whitby 31 miles away, and the gorgeous sandy beaches, cafes and restaurants of Scarborough 28 miles away. Take a day trip here and experiences the sights, sounds and tastes of Yorkshire's coastline.
