Get away for a relaxing break with your best friends or family at this beautiful cottage in the pretty village of Catterick. It’s ideal for exploring the Yorkshire Dales and Moors with your trusty canine companions by your side. It has a lovely garden befitting the quaint, traditional cottage, with gorgeous stone walls. There’s somewhere to sit in the sun and lawns for the kids and canines to play on, plus the garden is fully enclosed.

The cottage is very well equipped and has been lovingly fitted by the owners with impressive attention to detail to make sure you have everything you need for a comfortable stay. Sitting within the stunning Yorkshire countryside, you’ll find lots of beautiful walks nearby and the pretty town of Richmond is only 5.5 miles away, home to a number of heritage sites worth visiting, as well as picturesque river walks and lots of interesting attractions.

After a great day out, get back and relax in the gorgeous living room. With lots of cosy seating to curl up on, gather around the wood burner and catch up on your favourite series on the Smart TV. Take turns preparing delicious meals in the good-sized kitchen, which has a large range-style cooker and a coffee machine for your morning cuppa.

Grab breakfast at the kitchen table before heading out for the day and enjoy celebratory meals in the dining room. There’s also a utility room and a handy WC on the ground floor. The three stylish bedrooms are upstairs: a king-size room and two doubles. The king-size room has an attractive bold design, with plenty of storage for your holiday outfits, and an en-suite shower room.

The first double room has a colourful design, the second one is in neutral tones and has gorgeous rustic furniture for storing your garb; one also has an en-suite shower room and there’s a family bathroom everyone can use too.

Heading outside, there’s a quintessentially English garden with beautiful planting, next to a horse field with pretty countryside views. Enjoy lazy days sitting on the patio with a good book and a cool drink in the sunshine, get the BBQ going in the evening and enjoy al fresco meals together in the evening sun. The children and pups can explore the garden freely as it’s fully enclosed and there’s a lawn for them to play on.

Richmond is a charming market town on the borders of Wensleydale and Swaledale. It boasts an 11th-century castle, fine Georgian architecture, a historic Georgian theatre, and a large cobbled market square as some of its many attractions. Stroll into town for a cup of Yorkshire tea at one of the many tearooms or pop over for dinner at one of the excellent restaurants.

The gorgeous River Swale runs through the town and, across the river – less than 1 mile – you’ll find the River Swale Waterfalls. You can walk in either direction along the river and deep into the countryside without having to go anywhere near the car. We also recommend exploring the restored former Richmond Railway Station which has lots to entertain young and old including a small cinema, a cafe/restaurant, a gallery, a microbrewery and an artisan bakery.

Richmond is also known as 'The Gateway to the Dales' so expect stunning Dales scenery within minutes of leaving the town. Peppering this glorious countryside are countless attractive little towns and villages and, if you enjoy a bit of surreal entertainment, how about a visit to the quite brilliant Forbidden Corner, an attraction full of statues and hidden surprises, 14 miles away near Middleham?

The historic village of Easby, home to Easby Abbey is just 2 miles away. Set on the banks of the River Swale, the abbey is the perfect spot for a picnic in the summer months. There are lots of other breathtaking historic sites to explore in the Dales, including the stunning Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden (30 miles), a World Heritage Site.

This is a superb area for walkers and cyclists with many routes from the doorstep or just a short distance away, including Alfred Wainwright’s famous Coast to Coast Walk which passes close by. And with York, Harrogate and the North York Moors all within easy striking distance (under an hour’s drive on a clear run), you have lots of choice for day trips!

Very nice cottage in lovely village setting. We were greeted with a wonderful hamper with lots of goodies, owners had put a lot of thought into it. We had evrything we needed and the beds are lovely and comfy. Good walks locally for dogs and a very kind neighbour put our bins out for us. We will definitely visit Paddock cottage again.
