Occupying an idyllic location in the quaint village of Gayle, this Grade II-listed cottage overlooks the series of cascading waterfalls that make up Gayle Beck. Set within a conservation area with waterside views from every room, this stunning property blends period features with contemporary comforts for a truly luxurious stay. Sleeping six people in three bedrooms, it’s ideal for families and groups of friends seeking an indulgent escape at the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.

This characterful property has a rich history dating back to 1810, when it was built as a meeting room and office by the son of the owner of Gayle Mill. It’s been lovingly restored and renovated to impeccable standards, offering a truly exquisite stay close to the magical market town of Hawes. Arranged across three storeys, this spectacular property oozes rustic charm with exposed beamed ceilings, feature stone walls, sash windows and original fireplaces. This is carefully blended with top-end contemporary fixtures and fittings, underfloor heating throughout, and magnificent furnishings, making it a feast for the eyes.

As you step through the handsome double entrance doors, your first glance at the interior takes your breath away. An impressive glass entranceway welcomes you into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, where a welcome pack of top quality Yorkshire goodies awaits your arrival.

This stylishly decorated room is perfect for socialising with friends and family. The chefs in your group will love preparing home-cooked meals with delicious local produce in the magnificently equipped kitchen, which even includes a wine cooler. Memorable mealtimes are ensured when your party is gathered around the dining table in the heart of the room.

After dinner, sink into the deep sofas in the lounge area, cosied around the inviting stone fireplace with the wood burner roaring on chilly days. Fill this space with laughter and chatter as you share a bottle of wine and catch up on each other’s news, or settle down to watch a film on the Smart TV.

When it’s time to retire for the evening, you’ll find two bedrooms – a king-size and a twin – on the first floor, along with a chic, modern family bathroom. A further flight of stairs leads to the second floor where the master suite sits beneath the eaves, featuring a king-size bedroom and a sumptuous en suite with a freestanding bathtub and a walk-in, multi-flow shower.

While this property doesn’t come with a garden, a small front yard with a bench offers the perfect spot to sip your morning cuppa while listening to the water gently gurgle over the waterfalls.

Located in the picturesque hamlet of Gayle, this property enjoys an enviable location overlooking the cascading waterfalls of Gayle Beck. This tranquil Dales village is around 0.5 miles south of Hawes.

A magical market town in Upper Wensleydale, Hawes sits at the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Perched at 850ft above sea level, this is one of England’s highest towns, with a market dating back to 1307. World famous for its Wensleydale cheese, it’s one of the most popular towns in the Dales, with an array of shops, eateries and attractions.

Quaint boutiques and independent shops selling unique gifts, antiques and artisanal food line the pretty cobbled streets, but the town’s pride and joy is the Wensleydale Creamery. If you’re a fan of this creamy, crumbly cheese, you can browse their museum, take part in a cheese-making workshop, and sample their range of mouth-watering cheese.

Cosy cafes and traditional pubs abound too, where you can sit back and soak up the atmosphere. Sip a local pint and feast on such delights as Yorkshire pudding, fish and chips, and of course a cheeseboard featuring Wensleydale cheese! Hawes is a town steeped in history. Stroll over to St Margaret's Church, which dates back to the 14th century, or visit the town's ropemakers who are famous for making traditional ropes for sailing boats. Set in an old railway yard, the Dales Countryside Museum offers a wealth of interesting facts about the Dales.

This delightful town is wrapped in the rolling hills, wide valleys and vast green pastures of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Abundant opportunities for hiking, cycling, rock climbing and wildlife watching await, along with natural scenic attractions like Aysgarth Falls, Semerwater, Hardraw Force and White Scar Cave.

Everything was sublime. The best equipped rental Ive ever stayed at. Thought of everything. Beds were amazingly comfy, cotton bedding gorgeous, big towels and soaps all fabulous. The bath robes were a lovely touch too, as were the blankets in the sitting room cupboard and the umbrellas by the front door. Beautifully clean. 5* +
