Gather your friends or family together for a memorable holiday at this spacious cottage, one of two converted stables in a quiet spot in the peaceful village of Aislaby in the North York Moors. It’s the ideal home-from-home for friends or family of all ages being all on one level and having two double bedrooms (both with en-suites) and a twin bedroom.

Sit in the sunshine in the large, shared courtyard and admire the incredible views across the hills and countryside. There are beautiful walks nearby and the cottage is within easy reach of the towns and villages of the North Yorkshire coast, including much-loved Whitby, just over 3 miles away.

The historic town is known for its medieval streets, the Gothic abbey which inspired Dracula, and for having a superb mix of shopping, cafes, pubs, restaurants and attractions to visit. There’s also a pub just 1 mile from the cottage if you fancy an evening stroll and a drink at a local traditional inn.

You’ll find everything you need here for a comfortable stay, with pretty furnishings, contemporary interiors and lots of natural light from the skylights. Go inside, hang your coat up in the hall and head through to the kitchen, the heart of the home with everything you need to cook delicious dinners or quick bites to eat, including a range oven. When the food is ready, there’s space to enjoy your culinary creations together at the dining table. Next door is the lounge, which has lovely comfortable sofas, the perfect space to relax and catch up on your favourite series on the Smart TV.

The sliding doors in the lounge lead to a lovely double bedroom, which has an en-suite bathroom, and the other two bedrooms are off the hall. One is another gorgeous double, with an en-suite shower room, and the other is a pretty twin room, which has an en-suite WC.

Outside, you can doze on the sun loungers in the warm summer sun with a drink and a good book in hand or fire up the BBQ and dine alfresco. The large, enclosed courtyard is divided and shared with guests in the second converted stable cottage. Nature lovers are welcome to wander through the owners’ fields close by. There is a meadow here, where you can sit among the wildlife and enjoy a picnic in the most beautiful setting.

Whitby's narrow twisting yards evolved over a thousand years ago to provide protection from Viking raiders and to help Whitby's smugglers evade the revenue men and tax collectors. They're a unique and much-loved design to this part of the UK. Be prepared as you walk under the arched alleyway into the Rose and Crown Yard to gain a real sense of the authentic maritime history of this ancient sea town. It is one of the oldest, narrowest and most twisting of Whitby's Gothic yards.

Probably the most visited and much-loved of Yorkshire's seaside resorts, Whitby is an idyllic location for a holiday. With its seaside heritage, excellent restaurants, independent shops and host of bars and cafes along its medieval streets, it has so much to offer the discerning holidaymaker. Playing host throughout history to Romans, Saxons, Celts and Danes amongst others, the town's rich heritage is immediately obvious. Straddling the River Esk and dominated by the 13th-century ruins of St Hilda's Abbey on the East Cliff, Whitby's crooked cobbled streets and picturesque harbour have been a magnet for artists and tourists alike for centuries. Providing the backdrop for some of Lewis Carroll's work, it was also famously the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Whitby is set on the beautiful North Yorkshire coastline; a heady mix of rugged cliff tops, peaceful bays and pretty fishing villages. With long sandy beaches and all the traditional seaside trimmings of yesteryear, you can indulge in a classic English seaside holiday. That's not to say it's stuck in the past; in fact, Yorkshire's coastal villages and towns combine the traditional with the contemporary effortlessly, with trinket shops and tearooms sitting alongside up-market restaurants and champagne bars.

Nearby Robin Hood's Bay (5.5 miles) is one of the most popular coastal locations in Yorkshire, or the UK for that matter. The village is a maze of cobbled streets and higgledy-piggledy houses which seem to tumble down towards the sea. Sandsend is 3 miles away, a gorgeous little seaside village which is well worth a visit during your stay. With its handsome promenade, long stretch of beach, several excellent eating options and a world-class day spa, you could happily spend your whole holiday here. Staithes and Runswick Bay are also all under 10 miles away, each with their own unique charm.

Head inland from Whitby and you can be in the heart of the North York Moors within minutes. Take a tour of the impossibly pretty towns and villages in the area, including Egton, Danby, Castleton, and Rosedale. Or head up on the high moorland of Castleton Rigg; we guarantee on a clear day, it will take your breath away.

Outstanding gem of a find, far exceeding our expectations. Very well appointed in a stunning location with views and grounds you don't want to leave. Excellent hosts who really care about your stay. Easy transport into Whitby, just a couple of miles away, but far too busy to actually enjoy staying in. Lovely local pub and choice of eateries on the Read moredoorstep. Now our first choice for somewhere to stay when visiting the North Yorkshire Moors. Hide
