Located within the owner's working farm near the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this rustic barn conversion offers a great base for a family-friendly holiday. Retaining much of its original charm, you’ll love the exposed beams throughout which have been thoughtfully paired with modern updates to ensure an enjoyable stay. Spread over a single level, the high ceilings of this blissful barn give a wide open, spacious feel whilst retaining its cosy feeling of ‘home’. The boot room is a handy feature, particularly for those returning from long muddy walks before venturing further into the house.

At the heart of the property is the open-plan kitchen/lounge/diner where comfortable leather sofas and a warming wood burner entice you to kick back and relax in front of the TV. The kitchen/diner is bright and full of life with pastel and natural wood decor offering a lovely place to gather to share meals and stories with your loved ones.

Through the hall are two delightful bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and the other, with a super-king-size zip-and-link. They share a modern bathroom with a separate bath and shower.

Throw open the French doors and let the fresh air into the open-plan space, or take your morning coffee out to the patio to soak in the serene views from the elevated area.

With the Yorkshire Dales National Park on your doorstep, this is a fantastic location for outdoor adventurers, whether you wish to visit the weird and wonderful Brimham Rocks or enjoy a tranquil wander around Fewston Reservoir to spot local wildlife. Further afield, the medieval city of York (27 miles) is a fascinating place to visit for lovers of history and architecture. From York Minster and Abbey to the grand walls which surround the city, not to mention the eclectic mix of shops and eateries, York is sure to appeal to all the family.

The grand Victorian spa town of Harrogate (7 miles) is regularly listed as the best place to live in the UK. The truly gorgeous Yorkshire town combines traditional elegance with contemporary style effortlessly. And the Duchy suburb is well known as being one of the most desirable postcodes in town.

Best known for its antiques and fine art, Harrogate has antique dealers and galleries around every corner, particularly around the Montpellier Quarter. If buying old paintings and furniture isn't your bag, there are a host of other reasons to part with your cash in Harrogate. High fashion outlets nestle alongside lavish interior boutiques, punctuated with enough fine restaurants and cafes to keep you fuelled for weeks.

A visit to Bettys Tea Rooms is a must and, if you have time, we highly recommend a session at the famous Turkish Baths. Rejuvenate spirit and soul after a day on the town. If you're travelling with children, Harrogate is famous for its outdoor space with lots of parkland and greenery everywhere. The RHS gardens at Harlow Carr (6 miles) are also a fantastic option for families.

Harrogate is also very close to the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors so it makes the perfect base from which to explore the glorious Yorkshire landscape and its many stunning natural sights. The breathtaking Nidderdale is 10 miles north-west, and you will be driving through some of the most dramatic Dales scenery. We highly recommend a day trip to gorgeous Ilkley (14 miles) combined with a visit to Bolton Abbey, 19 miles away.

York is within easy reach (26 miles) and a day trip to this beautiful mediaeval city is well worth it.

All the previous 5 star reviews have nailed it! Warm and cosy- we stayed during a January cold snap with minus 5 at night, but the underfloor heating kept us warm at all times and the log burner was there when needed. This is a really lovely property, very well appointed and spotlessly clean. We were staying primarily to visit family locally so sadly didn't have the opportunity to explore the area on foot but the views from the cottage were stunning. Would definitely return.
