Whether you enjoy exploring the local history or adventures in Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, from here you’ll be ideally located to discover the wonders that Knaresborough and Nidderdale have to offer.

As soon as you step inside, you’ll feel a sense of calm wash over you as the warm and welcoming colour palette invites you in. The market town of Knaresborough itself has a vibrant community with plenty of local eateries and independent shops on your doorstep. Pay a visit to the 14th-century castle and courthouse museum to step back into that past or wander along the banks of the River Nidd for a picturesque walk for a leisurely day close to your holiday home. To immerse yourself in beautifully manicured gardens at an 18th-century stately home, head to Harewood House (10 miles) and you’ll find a unique art collection, a courtyard cafe and a whimsical woodland to enchant you.

The grand Victorian spa town of Harrogate (4 miles) is regularly listed as the best place to live in the UK. The truly gorgeous Yorkshire town combines traditional elegance with contemporary style effortlessly. And the Duchy suburb is well known as being one of the most desirable postcodes in town.

Best known for its antiques and fine art, Harrogate has antique dealers and galleries around every corner, particularly around the Montpellier Quarter. If buying old paintings and furniture isn't your bag, there are a host of other reasons to part with your cash in Harrogate. High fashion outlets nestle alongside lavish interior boutiques, punctuated with enough fine restaurants and cafes to keep you fuelled for weeks.

A visit to Bettys Tea Rooms is a must and, if you have time, we highly recommend a session at the famous Turkish Baths. Rejuvenate spirit and soul after a day on the town. If you're travelling with children, Harrogate is famous for its outdoor space with lots of parkland and greenery everywhere. The RHS gardens at Harlow Carr are also a fantastic option for families.

Harrogate is also very close to the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors so it makes the perfect base from which to explore the glorious Yorkshire landscape and its many stunning natural sights. The breathtaking Nidderdale is 23 miles northwest, and you will be driving through some of the most dramatic Dales scenery. We highly recommend a day trip to gorgeous Ilkley (20 miles) combined with a visit to Bolton Abbey, 22 miles away.

York is within easy reach (18 miles) and a day trip to this beautiful mediaeval city is well worth it.
