The property is full of character inside and out, with a traditional exposed stone exterior paired with pretty plant life. Inside, the leather sofas in the living room encourage you to take the weight off your feet and relax. Next door, the vintage-styled kitchen features warm wood and a terracotta tiled floor with a wooden dining table seating six for family feasts.

Two double bedrooms and a twin room each enjoy their own unique style which keeps in fitting with the rest of the property and ensures a restful night’s sleep, as well as picturesque views out into the garden.

Outside, the spacious garden offers a place to sit and soak up the natural beauty of the countryside, with plenty of space for children to play and a picnic bench for al fresco dining.

Escape for a day in the woods to North Riding Forest Park (12 miles) which has something for all ages hidden underneath the ancient canopy. An array of walking routes awaits you, as well as a children’s playground, a cafe and plenty of places to stop and enjoy a picnic in a picturesque spot. Pay a visit to Rosedale Abbey (5 miles) for a gorgeous valley walk in the heart of the National Park where you’ll have the opportunity to spot the ruins of a Cistercian Priory, trek through woodland sections and see industrial ruins from the mining history of this area.

The vibrant and attractive market town of Pickering (5 miles) is perfect for a relaxing wander around its pretty houses, shops and tearooms. Grand Georgian architecture stands alongside cosy traditional cottages to create a picture-postcard location with several excellent restaurants, pubs and cafes in the town. The wonderful North York Moors Railway starts in Pickering, where you can catch a steam train to Whitby (20 miles) and back again through some of the most picturesque countryside in Yorkshire.

Beyond Pickering lies the awe-inspiring North York Moors, a landscape of gently rolling hills of heather, ancient woodland and lazy rivers winding through lush green valleys. If you want to get away from it all, take a trip to the top of the high central moorlands, which is also a great option if walking is your thing.

In addition to Pickering, there are many well-heeled towns and villages dotted about the moors, where honey-coloured sandstone buildings lend a warm contrast to the deep purple and green of the surrounding hills. The beautiful market town of Helmsley is 13 miles away and is well worth a visit for its great restaurants, cafes and delis. If you fancy a little pampering, you'll also find a fantastic day spa here.

The charming town of Kirkbymoorside is 7 miles away, with its treasure trove of art and antique shops, tearooms, Ryedale Folk Museum and a great market on Wednesdays. There is a theme park and zoo at Flamingo Land, 10 miles away, and Eden Camp, a fascinating modern history museum, is just 12 miles away. You're also close to Castle Howard and York (both 16 miles) and the North Yorkshire coast, so you'll have lots of choice for day trips.
