Set amid quaint cobbled streets with the castle ruins on your doorstep, this historic apartment offers a unique stay in the heart of Knaresborough. Dating back to 1650, this duplex apartment was built from the ruins of the castle. Now this dog-friendly property has been fully renovated to sleep three guests, making it ideal for a romantic getaway or a family-friendly break. With easy access to the spa town of Harrogate, the vibrant city of York, and the Yorkshire Dales National Park, it’s a great base for exploring the region.

Set on the second and third floors of this historic building, this apartment has everything you need for a comfortable and memorable stay. Exposed beams and polished wooden floors exude old-world charm, which is beautifully juxtaposed with stylish furniture and contemporary design and artworks.

A small entranceway on the ground floor offers a convenient spot to leave coats and boots before heading to the main living space on the first floor. This cosy, open-plan room features a modern, industrial-style kitchen with beautiful, white tiles and contemporary lighting. Cook up a storm with delicious local produce picked up in town, then gather at the breakfast bar to dine or head down to the petit courtyard to enjoy an al-fresco meal.

After dinner, pop your dishes in the dishwasher and snuggle up on the sophisticated sofa to watch a film on the Smart TV or just enjoy quality time together over a bottle of wine and a board game. This warm and homely space also features a reading nook with a chair and overhead lamp, and large windows overlooking the castle ruins.

When it’s time to rest your head, two inviting bedrooms call you upstairs. Choose between a master bedroom with a double bed and a snug room with a small double bed for one. Each bed is adorned with soft linens for a blissful night’s sleep.

A smart, modern shower room ensures a refreshing start to your day, while coffee aficionados will appreciate the Tassimo coffee machine to give them a morning boost.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 double and 1 small 4ft double (sleeps 1 guest)

This historic property enjoys a central location in the heart of Knaresborough, a pretty market town with an impressive royal past. It’s a delightful place to while away some hours, wandering ancient alleyways, cobbled streets and secret passageways. Enjoy romantic strolls along the River Nidd, stopping to admire the magnificent viaduct, and amble around the ruins of the 12th century castle.

The grand Victorian spa town of Harrogate (5 miles) is regularly listed as the best place to live in the UK. The truly gorgeous Yorkshire town combines traditional elegance with contemporary style effortlessly. And the Duchy suburb is well known as being one of the most desirable postcodes in town.

Best known for its antiques and fine art, Harrogate has antique dealers and galleries around every corner, particularly around the Montpellier Quarter. If buying old paintings and furniture isn’t your bag, there are a host of other reasons to part with your cash in Harrogate. High fashion outlets nestle alongside lavish interior boutiques, punctuated with enough fine restaurants and cafes to keep you fuelled for weeks.

A visit to Bettys Tearooms is a must and, if you have time, we highly recommend a session at the famous Turkish Baths. Rejuvenate spirit and soul after a day on the town. If you’re travelling with children, Harrogate is famous for its outdoor space with lots of parkland and greenery everywhere. The RHS gardens at Harlow Carr (5.5 miles) are also a fantastic option for families.

The property is also conveniently located for visiting the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors so it makes the perfect base from which to explore the glorious Yorkshire landscape and its many stunning natural sights. The breathtaking Nidderdale is 23 miles north-west, and you will be driving through some of the most dramatic Dales scenery. We highly recommend a day trip to gorgeous Ilkley (20 miles) combined with a visit to Bolton Abbey, also 20 miles away. York is within easy reach (17.5 miles) and a day trip to this beautiful medieval city is well worth it.

Castle View has everything you need for any length of stay, we couldn't fault the house or the utilities the hosts left for use. The location is perfect, everything is close by and private parking was a great help. We will definitely be back!

Just let customers know that it can be noisy on Saturday night. Nearby Pub had a band playing, so loud you could hear the set, this went on until 12:00am. Very difficult to sleep with the noise.
