An inviting stone cottage with a groomed laid-to lawn garden, ideally situated in the arty market town of Kirkbymoorside. This airy abode is a wonderful space for small families or couples and their pup seeking a restorative break in North Yorkshire. Duck into eclectic antique stores and independent craft shops as you stroll the charming streets of Kirkbymoorisde (within 100 metres). After working up an appetite, dig into an al fresco dinner spread on the paved patio surrounded by leafy shrubs and flowers.

This sleek property features a sophisticated country interior with rich champagne and cool sage tones, checked upholstered furnishings, and airy indoor-outdoor living. Step along the garden path then towel down soggy paws and slip off shoes by the door. Pour an iced drink and potter in the calming kitchen as you cook up a simple supper. Congregate around the wooden dining table and dish out a tempting spread.

After dinner, rustle up something sweet then retire to the light-flooded lounge. Sink onto the armchair and rest up weary legs on the ottoman or stretch out on the sofa to watch a film on the Smart TV. Slide open the striking patio doors to bask in the warm summer breeze or chase away the chill in cooler months with the wood burner-effect electric fire.

Ascend the staircase to find two tastefully styled bedrooms, consisting of an opulent king-size and a cosy twin – each with plump throw pillows and coordinated soft furnishings. Outside, little ones and four-pawed family members can roam free on the enclosed lawn while you recline on the patio with a book. For nature lovers, stash away outdoor gear in the handy shed.

This stylish cottage is positioned on the edge of the North York Moors in the heart of Kirkbymoorside. This pretty town has much to offer including a gallery, antique shops, tearooms, a deli, a wine shop and butchers. There's also a great market on Wednesdays. From here, you can move on to the vibrant and attractive Yorkshire market towns of Pickering (8 miles) and Helmsley (6 miles), both of which have an abundance of good restaurants, tearooms and independent shops.

Beyond the town lies the North York Moors. A landscape like no other, it's a place of gently rolling hills of heather, ancient woodlands and lazy rivers winding through lush green valleys. If you want to get away from it all, take a trip to the top of the high central moorlands. The famous Blakey Ridge affords some of the best views in the country and, if walking is your thing, you are surrounded on all sides by some truly stunning routes.

Kirkbymoorside is also close to the North Yorkshire coast, with the Gothic town of Whitby 28 miles away, and the picture-postcard fishing village of Robin Hood's Bay 31 miles away. Take a day trip here and experience the sights, sounds and tastes of Yorkshire's coastline.

The cottage was absolutely beautiful and catered for our every need, even down to the Yorkshire tea bags, milk and sugar that was there ready for a brew on our arrival. A wonderful cottage to stay in. Beautifully decorated throughout with excellent quality furnishings and a kitchen equipped with everything you could possibly need. The food hamper was a lovely touch, as were the dog treats for our four legged family member. We will definitely return here again.

A wonderful week away in a home from home. Great location, everything we needed for our week away, and a perfect night's sleep after long walks each day. KMS seems to be 30 minutes away from everything . High quality accommodation and facilities, lovely local pubs with superb food (such large portions), could not fault anything. Thank you.
