Located 4 miles south of the cathedral city of Ripon, 8 miles north of the elegant spa town of Harrogate and nestled between two national parks, it’s perfectly situated for exploring the very best of Yorkshire. With flexible accommodation for four guests, this dog-friendly cottage welcomes couples, small families and groups of friends for a truly luxurious stay.

Arranged over a single storey, this former blacksmith’s cottage occupies an idyllic spot opposite the picturesque beck that runs through the village. Inside, this charming cottage has been lovingly renovated to effortlessly combine period charm with contemporary comforts. Decorated in neutral hues with soothing pops of green, the cottage is chic and elegant, yet has a warm and welcoming ambiance.

Step through the front door and directly into a light and airy lounge/kitchen/diner. Set beneath a vaulted and beamed ceiling, this open-plan room has a wonderful feeling of spaciousness, yet is cosy and welcoming too. The beautifully equipped kitchen is a delight to prepare meals in with a double electric oven, a central island with a gas hob, and a wine fridge. Coffee lovers will be delighted with the Tassimo coffee machine.

From hearty breakfasts to satisfying suppers, the dining table takes centre stage, inviting you to gather and savour delicious meals in style. When dinner is done, simply pop everything in the dishwasher, then adjourn to the lounge area. Sink into the plush sofas and fill the air with laughter and chatter as you share a bottle of wine, or snuggle up to watch a film, the wood burner crackling in the feature fireplace on chilly evenings.

When it’s time to rest your head, two beautiful bedrooms offer a serene sanctuary along the corridor. With a king-size bedroom and a room with zip-and-link beds, the rooms can be set up to accommodate your group, and ensure a tranquil night’s sleep for all.

Next door, the modern bathroom has a freestanding bathtub to help you unwind after a day’s walking, and a walk-in shower for a refreshing start to your day.

Located in the picturesque village of Bishop Monkton, this magical property is close to a local pub with more amenities in the cathedral city of Ripon, located 4 miles north.

The vibrant cathedral city of Ripon boasts a Thursday market, numerous coffee shops, pubs, restaurants and a nice collection of independent shops to explore. The cathedral is smaller than its close neighbour, York Minster, but is still an awe-inspiring sight. In addition, every night for at least 450 years the Ripon Hornblower has sounded the curfew at 9pm from all four sides of the obelisk in the market place, come rain or shine, followed by a 15-minute history of the ceremony and the city – an experience not to be missed! If you are partial to a flutter, Ripon Race Ground has around 15 meets from April to early September. Known as 'Yorkshire's Garden Racecourse' it has a distinct atmosphere harking back to a bygone era – traditional tearooms and bandstands sit alongside the champagne bar.

This area of Yorkshire has enough historic sites to keep you busy for a week with Ripley Castle (6 miles), Newby Hall (6.5 miles) and Norton Conyers (7.5 miles) all close by. Visit lovely Fountains Abbey and the gorgeous Studley Royal Water Garden, 7 miles away – this World Heritage site is deservedly one of the National Trust's most visited locations. As well as the spectacular ruins of a 12th-century Cistercian abbey, the grounds are home to an Elizabethan Mansion, a medieval deer park and some of the most romantic vistas in the country.

Harrogate (9.5 miles) is an absolute must-visit if you're staying here. Encircled by its famous Stray, or 200 acres, of horseshoe-shaped grassland, the Victorian spa town of Harrogate has a bright and breezy open-air feel and is characterised by its impressive floral displays. And as you would expect of such a bustling upbeat town, Harrogate boasts over 300 bars and restaurants together with all the shops, cinemas, parks and gardens you could ever wish for.

The cottage is a detached bungalow with a lovely enclosed courtyard and has secure parking behind locked gates. The interior of the cottage is well planned and the equipment and furnishings are high quality

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage is really comfortable with everything you need. The yard at the back is great for a dog - fully enclosed so great for running around, and hard standing so no mud. Lovely cottage with high spec, enclosed rear ideal for our dog. Excellent base for exploring the area, car or bus to Ripon, Harrogate etc or country walks from the village.
