An idyllic red-roof cottage set on a working cattle farm, surrounded by leafy shrubs and rolling countryside vistas. This inviting hideaway is a wonderful base for an outdoorsy couple or solo traveller adventuring alongside their four-pawed companions. Embark on a peaceful saunter beneath tree-lined trails and along the rippling lake edge of Cod Beck Reservoir (15 miles), before scoffing nibbles and stretching weary toes in the ambient glow of the crackling wood burner.

This stylish barn conversion is the epitome of cosy country living. Enjoy exposed wooden beams, well-lived leather textures and earthy neutral tones. Unravel woolly outer layers and towel off soggy paws before stepping into the open-plan living area. Cook up a storm in the traditional kitchen, bathed in natural light from the Velux window. Select a chilled bottle of wine from the fridge then perch at the wooden dining table for an intimate evening meal.

As evening falls, retire to the charming lounge area. Throw another log on the roaring wood burner and snuggle in amongst the plump throw pillows. Delve back into a captivating holiday novel or peruse the Smart TV for an easy evening watch. Rest up in the elegant king-size room with its high vaulted ceiling and rich champagne tones. When morning breaks, indulge in breakfast in bed then pad onto the deep pile rug.

Outdoors, inhale the crisp country air as you perch in the south-facing garden with freshly brewed coffee, or sip a nightcap beneath the twinkling night sky. Furry friends can sniff hello to the neighbouring cattle, goats and Shetland ponies in this blissful Yorkshire location.

This cottage is situated 15 miles from Kirkbymoorside. Situated on the edge of the North York Moors, this pretty town has much to offer including a gallery, antique shops, tearooms, a deli, a wine shop and butchers. There's also a great market on Wednesdays. From here, you can move on to the vibrant and attractive Yorkshire market towns of Pickering (22 miles) and Helmsley (9 miles), both of which have an abundance of good restaurants, tearooms, and independent shops.

Beyond the town lies the North York Moors. A landscape like no other, it's a place of gently rolling hills of heather, ancient woodlands and lazy rivers winding through lush green valleys. If you want to get away from it all, take a trip to the top of the high central moorlands. The famous Blakey Ridge affords some of the best views in the country and, if walking is your thing, you are surrounded on all sides by some truly stunning routes.

For a day of traditional seaside fun, venture to the North Yorkshire coast. The Gothic town of Whitby is 40 miles away, and the picture-postcard fishing village of Robin Hood's Bay is 45 miles away. Take a day trip here and experience the sights, sounds and tastes of Yorkshire's coastline.

A really great cottage, we had a very comfortable stay here in early August. The property is very well equipped and Sandra and Hans have really thought of everything that you might need. Beautiful view of the hills and very peaceful.

The hosts were very welcoming and kind. We especially appreciated a properly fenced in garden for our dog to run around in. The garden has fantastic views for sunny days and the cottage is cost and warm on rainy days. The only downside for us was the 3 cockrels heralding the new day - bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper! Great cottage though Read moreeven if you're a townie, like us! Hide

We had a very peaceful and calm rest for three full days with our two dogs, Luna and Evie in this lovely cottage of which was very clean and very well equipped. Luna and Evie haven't met pigs or goats before so I think the excitement got to them a bit. A great base for dog walks in the North Yorkshire moors.
