Steeped in historic grandeur and situated in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, this barn conversion is enveloped by a sprawling lawn and shaded by mature trees. With elegant social spaces aplenty, this country abode is perfect for multigenerational family gatherings or a long overdue celebration with friends, plus a couple of tufty-pawed tag-a-longs. Pack a picnic and feast al fresco overlooking the rugged limewashed cliffs of Malham Cove (8 miles). After a day of adventuring, crack open a chilled tipple and sink onto the plush corner sofa to unwind in the roar of the wood burner.

This property encompasses a tasteful blend of traditional charm and contemporary craftsmanship. Picture wooden beams, exposed stone textures, creamy neutral hues and Scandi-inspired minimalist styling. Kick off boots and outer layers in the hallway then explore inside. Freshen up any mucky outdoor gear in the cloakroom before ascending the staircase to the striking living space.

Curl up on the armchair nestled by the window to thumb through a local guidebook or congregate on the sofa for a pre-dinner drink and bask in the roar of the wood burner. Settle in with a film on the Smart TV in cooler months or throw open the patio doors to drink in balmy summer evenings. Stepping up from the lounge, the resident chef can potter in the breezy farmhouse kitchen to rustle up a family feast. Adorn the wooden dining table with glassware and crockery, then dish up a local takeaway or celebratory home-cooked supper.

When night falls, discover four beautifully presented bedrooms upstairs. Snuggle up in the soft linens of an en-suite super-king-size, two king-size rooms and a twin. Completing the property is a tiled family bathroom. Outside, saunter through the wildflower-peppered garden, dine on the patio or settle in for a sizzling BBQ soiree.

  • 4 bedrooms – 1 super-king-size, 2 king-size and 1 twin

This charming cottage is situated 6.5 miles from Skipton, a historic market town offering up delectable cuisine, scenic streets and famously friendly locals. Step back in time as you stroll the beautifully preserved medieval architecture of Skipton Castle. Step beneath ancient archways that survived a three-year civil war siege before sauntering along the lush trails winding through Skipton Castle Woods.

Sample artisan goodies and secure locally crafted souvenirs at the bustling market in Skipton. Foodies of the group are in safe hands with a selection of elegant bistros, wine bars, and farm shops to discover. Feeling creative? Partake in a Craven Art workshop then duck into the waterfront Mill Bridge Gallery showcasing the talent of over 20 local artists. Sip fragrant brews and scoff miniature bakes as you glide along the canal on an afternoon tea soiree with Skipton Boat Trips or get competitive with a game of tennis on the courts.

Nearby, explore the quaint cobbled streets of Grassington (4 miles) or kit up for a hike in the emerald hills of the Dales Way. For a breathtaking photo backdrop, venture to the towering limestone cliffs of Malham Cove (10 miles) where keen bird watchers may be able to spot the nestling peregrine falcons in warmer months. While away sunny afternoons ambling across moors and through dense woodland trails at Bolton Abbey (13 miles).

We had a lovely weekend for our annual Christmas friends gathering. The large, open living space was great for all 8 of us to relax with the log burner. The kitchen was well equipped for our meal and the dining table seated all 8 of us including a toddler and dog! Thanks for a great weekend!
