This stylish, one-level wooden cottage, close to the Yorkshire coast and surrounded by hilly countryside, is ideal for couples or small families who like being in nature. Enjoy scenic walks from your doorstep at this property in the tiny hamlet of Raw. Down the hill from the cottage, there’s a tranquil beck and flowing ford to explore. In the neighbouring village of Fylingthorpe (0.5 miles), there’s a pub, shop, and bakery. If you continue east from here, you’ll reach Robin Hood’s Bay (1.5 miles), which is a picturesque fishing village. Here you can enjoy fish and chips, coastal walks or visit the National Trust’s Old Coastguard Station (1.5 miles).

Once you’ve entered the cottage, you’ll find yourself in the kitchen, which is a light room with wooden cabinets. A separate pantry provides handy extra storage. The addition of a slow cooker means that you can muster up a delicious hearty meal while you sit back and relax in the lounge/diner, which can be found next to the kitchen. Here you can put your feet up on one of the two plump sofas while the gentle glow of the wood burner illuminates the room and rustic wooden furnishings. When it’s time for dinner, sit at the table which is next to the large French doors that look out onto the raised patio. Walking through into the hallway, there is a utility cupboard and an airing cupboard. There are two bedrooms at this property — a king-size and a twin room. In addition to these, there’s a box room with storage in the chest of drawers. The final room in this cottage is a wet room, which has spa-like tiles and a walk-in shower.

Stepping out through the French doors onto the raised patio area, there is a table and chairs, which is an idyllic spot for al fresco dining with a glass of bubbly. There is also a small grassy garden outside the property, surrounded by a hedgerow and shrubbery.

Lovely cottage/bungalow, well equipped, very comfortable and peaceful. Great views from terrace (afternoon sun trap!) and front garden. Friendly owners are on-hand next door if needed, otherwise we were left to our own devices (which we like). We were blessed with some great weather as well. Great location for walking the coast paths north/south ofRead more Robins Hood Bay and making them circular walks back to the bungalow via the cinder track (no need for drive). Nice touch of a local walking book which we used to good effect, including the lovely St Stephen's church. Whitby is a 10 minute drive for the supermarket, with quality food at local pubs at Hawsker/Robins Hood Bay. One of the best cottages/bungalows we have stayed at. Hide

This cottage is lovely, the views are fantastic, the owners cannot do enough to help but are also unobtrusive. The facilities are marvellous. If like me you are a snowdrops fan then this is great, the grounds contain lovely flowers, trees and the owls hooting away are a bonus, the only problem with the latter is that the double glazing is excellentRead more and you have to have better hearing than me to hear them indoors. The new heating system is very good and far far better than the old economy seven. It is the air source heat pump type which is very efficient. The previous occupants to us had it on very high which was fine for them but we needed it at 20 to 21 degrees, it was easily adjusted. The week flew past, very enjoyable. Hide

The cottage is wonderful. Very cosy, two lovely big windows with great views, lovely outside seating areas, very tastefully decorated and furnished, and very well equiped. Lots of thoughtful things such as fresh flowers and different types of milk, beach towels, firewood etc. Great location, too.
