This smart three-bedroom cottage features the best of single-storey living, a stone’s throw from some wonderful walks within the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. It’s a haven for a peaceful retreat. Lying within the national park, Harwood Dale (2 miles) is a tranquil village boasting impressive views of the rolling hills. Get back to nature with a peaceful stroll through Harwood Dale Forest (4.5 miles), an area of coniferous woodland made up mainly of pines and spruces, and an excellent place for birdwatching or spotting badgers, squirrels, foxes and even roe deer. Hayburn Wyke (5 miles) is a secluded cove between Scarborough and Whitby, perfect for rock pooling, and features a stunning waterfall that falls directly onto the rocky beach.

Two steps guide you up into an entrance porch, taking you through to a large hallway complete with beautiful woodpecker-themed wallpaper. The open-plan living/dining area decorated in calm neutral tones features a cosy open fire with a large, exposed brick surround and a wooden mantel. A retro wooden dining table is flooded with natural light nestled next to the large window, and a large sofa and matching chair surround the TV. Views overlooking the garden and beyond can be admired in the sweet, contemporary kitchen, kitted out with everything to cater. Even more stunning views can be seen in the double bedroom, which also boasts a feature wallpapered wall and built-in wardrobes. You’ll also find a further single bedroom and a twin bedroom with equally as calm decor as the rest of the cottage. A smart bathroom with feature tiles, a shower over the bath and WC completes this picturesque cottage.

A well-maintained, lawned garden wraps around the rear and side of the cottage, providing plenty of space for games or for children to let off steam.

On warm days, head outside to the wonderful garden at the front and side of the cottage where you can sit  in the summer house with a glass of something chilled and take in those views.

A wonderful cottage in a wonderful location absolutely lovely enclosed front garden and the views all around are stunning, I've never spent so much time looking out of a kitchen window at a bird feeder, there's a good reason it's called Woodpecker Cottage, would highly recommend this property to all.

I booked this bungalow with my elderly mother in mind, myself and my sister. It was the perfect location to visit Scarborough, Bridlington, Pickering and Whitby in particular. The gardens were gorgeous and although it was called Woodpeckers Cottage I didnt expect to see any! The birds that came into the back garden each day were a joy to watch. Read moreThere is a summer house which is lovely to relax in too. The cottage is well equipped and gives a home from home feel to your stay. The farm next door sells fresh eggs and a range of fruit and vegetables from an honesty cart which we made use of. All in all we had a lovely holiday at Woodpeckers Cottage. Hide

Lovely cottage - very clean and well equipped. The views are stunning and the summerhouse is a lovely additional touch, and nice to go and sit in at the end of the day to relax and appreciate the views. The cottage has everything that you need and having some milk and some biscuits on arrival is a nice touch. There were also lots of little things tRead morehere such as foil, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets. There are a few pubs within around a 10 minute drive to go and have some food. Would definitely recommend to others and would also go back again Hide
