Spend time discovering Whitby’s rich nautical and literary history with a stay in this fantastic town-centre cottage. Situated on the Yorkshire Coast and with the North York Moors National Park just behind, the town offers plenty of activities when staying at any time of year. Less than half a mile from the doorstep, you can embark on a whale spotting expedition or a spooky Dracula walking tour, wander up the 199 steps to view the magnificent abbey or simply head to the beach and spend a day lounging on the sands. Venture into the North York Moors with a picnic in tow, discovering the historic ruins of Mulgrave Castle (5 miles) or perhaps admiring ever-changing scenery with a ride on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

Steep and winding staircases connect the four storeys of this traditional cottage, complete with other original elements including latched doors and ornate feature fireplaces. Step up into the hallway and make a beeline for the comfortable lounge. Sink onto a comfortable sofa or armchair with the wood burner effect electric fire blazing away, perhaps enjoying a good book or wtaching the Smart TV. From here you can venture downstairs into the basement kitchen/diner. Despite being on a lower floor, this room makes the most of its light and features fresh fittings and beautiful Moroccan tiles. Head back upstairs and onto the first floor where the first of two bedrooms is located. Sat next door to a beautiful family bathroom, this king-size bedroom is laid out with ornate furnishings. Up on the second floor, a twin bedroom is nestled under the eaves of the property.

This town-centre accommodation doesn't feature any garden or patio space, however, both a public park and a wide expanse of sandy beach are accessible within 0.5 miles.

Bed linen needs to be improved. The bedding in the master bedroom was tired, bobbly, worn and the duvet cover has a small stain patch at the foot end. Better clothes drying facility would be helpful. Kitchen has slugs on the floor at night time. Only seen because we were awake due to the very loud noises from inside the kitchen's chimney breasRead moret area. We contacted the letting agent to advise of suspected birds in the cavity, but no resolution was offered. We endured interrupted sleep and our group found the sounds to be distressing. Sadly, other guests will likely encounter the same or potentially the smell of decaying flesh, if the problem isn't investigated promptly. We paid a premium for the cottage....a quality welcome basket would have been a pleasant touch and experience, so this was disappointing. Hide

We have just arrived home after a lovely 4 days in Jet Cottage. The cottage is so comfortable, clean and has everything you need for a fabulous stay. The cottage is brilliantly located within walking distance from everything in Whitby. Couldnt have asked for more, an ideal getaway for a family. Our dog loved it too! Will definitely be returning!

A well located cottage, close to all attractions. There are lot of steep stairs, but otherwise it's generally comfortable place to stay, with adequate levels of equipment.

The cottage was in an excellent location and very clean, comfortable and well equipped. The parking scratchcards were really handy. The only thing that was an issue was the steepness of the stairs but this had been well signposted. A wonderful holiday house that we would happily rent again.
