This delightful stone cottage set in the friendly village of Gayle overlooking the river has excellent access to walks in the Dales and is a perfect base for outdoor enthusiasts. The bustling market town of Hawes is less than 1 mile away, with independent shops, local pubs and cafes to wander around. Take a tour of the local waterfalls with Hardraw Force, Cotter Force and Aysgill Force all within 3 miles. The Pennine Way which passes through Hawes is a brilliant route through the Dales for keen walkers and promises some breathtaking views from the summits of the hills.

Enter into the hallway where you can store your coats and boots before you head into the lounge/diner. Feel at home amidst the exposed wooden beams, cosy furnishings and authentic Yorkshire range with a glowing open fire. Watch TV, enjoy the countryside views, or play a family board game. Further along is the kitchen which is equipped for whipping up delicious family meals to enjoy at the dining table in the living area. From the kitchen, head upstairs to the bedrooms, both of which are spacious and light. The family bedroom with a double and single bed and features plenty of storage as well as a washbasin and a charming exposed beam. The double bedroom has a fitted wardrobe, chest of drawers and a dressing table. The final room is a family bathroom with a shower over the bath, perfect for a relaxing soak after a countryside walk.

The cottage was ideal and really a home from home. There are stunning walks from the doorstep so no need to use the car whilst there which for us is a big bonus.

Lovely cottage tucked away in a very peaceful road but close enough to walk to Hawes to enjoy the shops and great pubs. We have never stayed in such a well equipped house! Location was perfect for exploring on foot but equally within a short drive there were some fabulous villages and great walks. Particularly loved driving up to Buttertubs in our Read moreold MG! Would definitely recommend. Hide

This is a lovely old cottage tucked away in a back lane of the village. The cottage is well equipped and very comfortable and cosy. Its location is perfect for accessing many walks in the area , as well as a short walk into the bustling market town of Hawes, with plenty choice of pubs and restaurants, as well as coffee shops. Flags cottage is situated in a perfect town with lots of amenities and for exploring the beautiful Dales. Comfortable,clean and very spacious it was so lovely to have a long soak in the bath after a full days walking. The owner was so friendly and kind. Would definitely stay in the cottage again to explore more of the area.
