The heather and grasslands of the North York Moors are just inland of this pretty cottage, while in the opposite direction are the cliffs of the Heritage Coastline and, below them, Whitby’s sandy West Beach. Rising from both banks of the River Esk, the town has much to see and do, all of it easily enjoyed on foot. Explore ancient cobbled streets lined with individual shops (Whitby is famous for its jet jewellery), climb 199 steps up the East Cliff to St Mary’s Church and the iconic Abbey, book a boat ride from the busy working harbour and tuck into some freshly-caught fish with a side of fries – all are essentials for any holiday here. The trains of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway run from the town station into the National Park, making exploration further afield traffic-free, but if you’re in the mood for a dramatic drive there are plenty of roads across the moorland to test your mettle. Venture into the beautiful Esk Valley – you can do so by train from Whitby or by car – and you’ll find a choice of circular walks starting at Danby (16 miles) – ask for a guide at the National Park Visitor Centre.

Planning a busy day of sightseeing or some chill-out time on the coast? Whichever you choose, your day will begin and end well at this cosy, contemporary cottage that’s been carefully designed to suit either a small family or set of friends. Step through the front door and you’re into an open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining room that’s airy and light, with French windows to one end. Snuggle on a sofa, catch up on your favourite TV programmes or cook up a tasty treat and chat for hours around the table… there’s room for everyone to enjoy together-time here. Upstairs, the emphasis is on calm, quiet and quality sleep, with two tastefully furnished bedrooms each with en-suite facilities. The first has a Juliette balcony looking out on the back garden, and in the second you can choose whether you want the bed to be made up as a king-size or twins.

Getting away from it all isn’t always about being super-busy, so for at-home style relaxation the rear garden is idyllic. Accessed via French doors from the lounge area, it has feature decking, outdoor furniture and a cabin-style summerhouse which, as well as housing a washing machine and tumble dryer, has a comfy sofa and TV/DVD… a perfect place to chill as a couple, or for the children to enjoy some independent play.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 king-size, 1 king-size zip-and-link (can be made up as a twin by request)
  • 2 bathrooms – 1 en-suite bathroom with bath, shower over bath and WC, 1 en-suite shower room with WC, 1 cloakroom with WC
  • Fridge, freezer, ceramic hob, electric oven, grill, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer
  • Welcome pack
  • Smart TV, TV in main bedroom
  • Stairgate
  • Designated parking, on-street parking
  • Enclosed garden at rear with decking and summerhouse
  • Beach 1 mile, pub and shop 0.5 miles
  • This property will be decorated for Christmas
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00
  • 2 dogs allowed. Additional charges may apply

Perfect accommodation. Lots of attention to detail. Real home from home. Couldn't have wished for more. Thank you to the owner who only lives next door and popped round when we had a question. Best holiday hone we have stayed in and would recommend.

We had a lovely weekend in Creamary Cottage. The cottage is beautifully decorated with some lovely finishing touches. The beds are really comfortable! The location is great as only a few minutes walk to the West Cliffe.

We loved our stay at Creamery Cottage. The location was perfect for exploring Whitby without needing to drive but also well located to get on the road to go further afield. The dedicated parking spot was really handy. The house was well kitted out, with everything we needed and more. We really got the impression that the owner had put time and effRead moreort into creating a high quality holiday home. It was very helpful to have a stairgate available as the dogs were not allowed upstairs. There was lots of useful information in the folders provided and the welcome hamper was a lovely (and tasty!) bonus. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and we have already recommended the property to family and friends. We really fell in love with the area so might well be back ourselves! Hide

Lovely property in the perfect location for us. It was clean and had everything we needed. Only very very minor point was that we couldnt find a shaving point in either bathroom to charge toothbrushes so had to buy an adapter for the normal plug. We were lucky with the weather being just right and had fun exploring new beaches. Im sure we will Read morebe back Hide

Overall it was a nice property in a good location and it was well equipped. I have scored less than full marks on "comfort and quality" due to issues we had with the heating thermostat and boiler during our stay. We reported this to Emma the housekeeper who gave us a workaround with the thermostat - as on entering the property for the first time weRead more found it to be too hot and the thermostat not responsive in reducing the temperature. She separately had to return another time to reset the boiler when it had stopped working and we awoke to a freezing cold house and the boiler displayed a fault code. It is disappointing that it appears that these are known issues and it did adversely affect our stay a bit. In other respects, Creamery Cottage was very good, with high quality furnishings and kitchen equipment. The rooms were comfortable and it is a smart, modern house. However, we would probably book somewhere different if returning to the area - due to the heating issues we experienced. Hide

Location was perfect for Whitby sightseeing, pubs and restaurants. All within easy walking distance. Then also handy to get onto Cleveland way and Cinder. In one week, we only used the car once. The cottage is lovely and really comfortable. Thankyou.

The only thing misleading is that creamery cottage is a house, not what I would call a cottage. As it is in housing estate.
