Tucked away on a quiet road off Hinderwell High Street, this stunning period property makes a truly memorable base for a family or group of friends looking to explore the Yorkshire coast and North York Moors. The coastal town of Hinderwell has a handful of shops, pubs, and fish and chip shops within 0.5 miles, and miles of walking and cycling routes all around. Keen walkers will find numerous trails in the North York Moors National Park including the Cleveland Way, while cyclists can admire the scenery on the Tour de Yorkshire route. Coastal lovers have plenty to explore too, including the charming fishing village of Staithes (1.5 miles), the pretty seaside village of Runswick Bay (1 mile), and the popular resort of Whitby (9 miles).

This pretty thatched stone cottage is the stuff of country dreams, featuring a delightful mix of original features, antique furniture, and stylish touches. Enter through the stable door to a porch and entrance hall, with lots of space to stash muddy boots and hang coats. The spacious lounge blends antique furniture and comfortable seating, a TV, and wonderful views over the moors. Next door, the dining room offers a similar mix of old and new with a (now unused) range fireplace, refurbished antique pieces, and a couple of cosy armchairs next to the dining table, while the modern kitchen is well equipped to cook up a storm. A shower room completes the downstairs. Upstairs, there are two elegant bedrooms – one king-size and one twin. Five steps lead to a half landing with moorland views, leading to the magnificent family bathroom, which has a large bath accessed by granite circular steps, a generous walk-in shower, and a balcony looking over the rear patio.

Outside, the front garden has a cottage garden feel with hints of the Mediterranean including some large palm trees, while the rear offers a private enclosed patio, with a dining table and chairs, a half moon seat to recline in, perfect for relaxing after a long walk or enjoying your drink of choice beneath the stars.

Very comfortable well-equipped cottage in an ideal location for local country and coastal walks. Hinderwell Village has two good pubs within walking distance of the cottage.

A well presented cottage in a central location with the additional easy access to public transport (bus service) covering most of the coast, avoiding the need to always rely on a car. Pubs/restaurants in close proximity as well.

The cottage was warm, cosy and ideally situated for walking along the costal part of the Cleveland Way. The kitchen is well equipped and the bathroom fabulous. We would definitely return.
