Discover this comfortable, quaint cottage in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, surrounded by beautiful scenery, tourist attractions, and walking trails. With three bedrooms and lovely outdoor space, this property will appeal to families or friends wanting a rural base for exploring the area. It is located in Hardraw, a picturesque village filled with traditional cottages and home to Hardraw Force, England's largest single-drop waterfall. Hardraw is well placed for exploring the many delights of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and several walking trails and cycle routes start within the village. Less than 2 miles away is Hawes (1.5 miles), the home of world-famous Wensleydale cheese, where you can explore the factory, museum and visitor centre.

This beautiful dales cottage is a warm and comfortable home which has retained many of its traditional features such as flagstone floors, beamed ceilings and exposed brick walls. The entrance hall is a lovely mixture of wood and stone and offers storage for walking boots and outdoor wear, before you step up the two stairs into the kitchen dining room. This light room, tastefully decorated with sage units, cream appliances, and wooden surfaces, is a lovely room to cook and dine in. The living room is a cosy place to retreat to on chilly evenings with large plush sofas and a feature wood burner. Large windows offer beautiful views of the river and garden. Four steps take you to a bedroom with bunk beds suitable for children and a shower room with a rainforest shower and WC. Climb the nine stairs to the first floor, where you’ll find two double bedrooms with brick feature walls and lovely countryside views. The bathroom features a shower over a freestanding bath, and a window that offers stunning views as you bathe.

Outside this property is a private terrace with a table and chairs offering stunning views over fields and farmland. The cottage grounds lead to the river, where it's possible to set up a table and chairs for an idyllic lunch beside the water.

Rose Cottage was the best setting for a birthday weekend. There were beautiful views across the dales from both of the upstairs bedrooms, and from the living room. We were also lucky enough to get in for a last few pints at The Green Dragon on its last weekend under the same owners that its had for 20 years or so! We would love to come back and staRead morey again next year Hide

Probably the cosiest and best equipped cottage we have stayed in. The kitchen is especially well equipped and is ideal for comfortable dining. The lounge is superbly cosy with an excellent log burner that was easy to light and manage. This kept the whole cottage warm during our stay. The 2 bathrooms are warm and well appointed offering either a sRead morehower or bath, a real luxury. Anxious to arrange our next visit. Hide

We have now stayed 3 times in the last year. A beautiful cottage in the picturesque hamlet of Hawes. Incredibly homely and comfortable, we will definitely be back soon!

One of the main criteria of booking this cottage was the wood burner, which you kindly informed us was out of use well in advance of our holiday. However to say all 4 of us were disappointed would be an understatement. To this end we found the living area cold and spent most of our time in the kitchen/hallway. We then discovered on arrival that tRead morehe Green Dragon was closed - another criteria of ours - a pub within walking distance. The other problem we had was Hawes being resurfaced and as a result the traffic was being diverted passed the cottage. We also struggled to get live tv and had to watch everything on player - slightly annoying if trying to keep up with the news as it only wanted to show us news from the previous day or 4 hours earlier. The stairs are very steep and one step in particular seems higher than the others - typical for an older property but I did fall up them twice. I merely point all the above out so you have a full picture. The cottage itself was beautiful and very well equipped - one of the best we have stayed in. Loved the beds and bedding and bath. Didn't get to use the outside space as mainly raining or when it wasn't we were out exploring. I expect it is fabulous in the spring/summer. The area is stunning and we all fell in love with it. It was a joy to wake up to the sound of the river and we had a large heron often visiting in the field in front plus all the other birds including owls in the evening. Everyone we met in the area was friendly and the food we ate fantastic - Cafe Curver, The White Hart and the quiche from the Spar are recommended.. Please thank the owner for us, we had a great stay. We would love to return but I think we have to see how the cost of living crises pans out. Hide

Bedrooms in the property were very compromised in size, condition of mattresses and all lacked any hanging space. Equipment in the kitchen was a little odd, far too much stuff and missing some of the usual basics.
