This traditional-style, Dales farmhouse has ample space both inside and out for groups of friends and families to relax and soak up the commanding views over Swaledale. The house is situated in the small village of Gunnerside, home to a handful of traditional Yorkshire pubs and tea rooms to frequent. There are a number of walking routes taking you along the picturesque river or into the heart of the stunning Yorkshire Dales. For those looking for something a little more bustling, just 10 miles away is the charming market town of Hawes, which is home to the world-famous Wensleydale Cheese and boasts an array of traditional shops and cafes. For a spot of history, visit the National Park Centre and Dales Countryside Museum or the restored Gayle Mill.

This beautiful, detached property maintains a lovely balance of modern décor with traditional county-cottage charm. The property’s entrance hall has space for taking off your walking gear and boots after a day exploring the Dales. Glass double doors lead into open-plan kitchen/diner and utility area with limestone effect tile flooring with underfloor heating. On warmer days open the doors leading to the rear patio area and enjoy a glass of fizz in the sunshine. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare a picnic lunch or an evening meal which can be enjoyed together at the dining table whilst taking in the glorious views.  A couple of wide steps lead down to the living room. Cosy up in front of the wood-burner on the comfortable sofas whilst enjoying the views of the Dales from the large picture windows. The owners have also provided a selection of board games perfect for a bit of quality family time on an evening. There is also a downstairs WC and handy drying area. The landing leads to a comfortable twin bedroom as well as a king-size master bedroom with an en-suite shower room and a double bedroom. Wake up to glorious views in both the master and double bedrooms which can be enjoyed from the window seats looking out across the Dales. A family bathroom completes the property.

I would warn them to take firm cushions to place on the sagging sofas though.

Throstle Nest House is everything you could wish for in a holiday cottage...stylish yet homely, clean and cosy. It felt like miles from everywhere yet still convenient to the best amenities, especially the bakery! With a view from every window and walks in every direction, what more could you ask for. Five plus stars!

This was our third visit to this cottage. It never ceases to satisfy. Its a fabulous cottage in an ideal location. Very quiet and secluded and you would be extremely hard pushed to find quite as stunning a view from the bedroom (while sat in bed), anywhere else in the world.

Delightful house. Incredible views. Very comfortable. Amazing walks but steep, slightly scary narrow roads. The only negative was the duvet cover which was far too big for the duvet!!!!

A pretty cottage which was well laid out and nicely finished inside making it a very comfortable stay. The bed was very comfortable and the cottage was warm given the time of the year. The views were spectacular from all the main rooms in the house.
