This quaint cottage is tucked away in a corner of the village of Gunnerside in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, perfectly placed for enjoying the quiet location and beautiful local area. Surrounded by stunning scenery, set out on walks right from the door – the village just happens to be on the Coast-to-Coast walk. Head to Gunnerside Gill, a narrow, rocky gorge where signs of the village's industrial past can be seen (a 5-mile walk there and back) and stop off at the community-owned village pub to refuel, about 150 metres from the cottage. Travel 3 miles to Muker, a popular starting point for walking and cycling around Swaledale and the northern part of the National Park. Among the facilities in Muker are a shop, tearoom, art gallery and craft shop as well as Swaledale Woollens. Visit the popular market town of Leyburn, 14 miles away, where there’s a fantastic range of shops, cafes and attractions to enjoy. Head further down the dale to Richmond (17 miles), a vibrant market town boasting an impressive Norman Castle, cobbled streets, museums and a working theatre.
The cottage opens to a spacious lounge with exposed beams and lots of comfy seating, fantastic views, and a wood burner for cosy nights in. There is also a bright and airy kitchen equipped with a traditional dresser and central island and chairs – a great spot for sociable meals. Upstairs are the two attractive bedrooms. One has a luxurious king-size bed, a gorgeous ornamental fireplace and superb views; the second bedroom is a good-sized twin with lovely wooden furniture. There is also a bathroom with a shower over the bath.
Outside is a large south-facing garden where you can sit and enjoy the views in the summer sunshine and relax in absolute tranquillity.
